2025 Lithuanian NT

Brazdeikis said in media he got injured in lkl finals and he was best lithuanian in lkl finals even playing with injury

Brazdeikis says that injury can effect his desicion to play in 2025 eurobasket. Thats would be one more blow for NT



NT 2025 situations looks bleak.

No Sabonis,No Buzelis, Kuzminskas retired, Ulanovas didnt made coaches candidate list

Butkevicius and Brazdeikis finished lkl finals injured.


I see 2023 NT roster situation all over again.When 50% of players will be from fiba window games.

They never will have same dedication if something not right physically or playing dates in summer makes them go out of their comfort zone they will search ways not to play.

And there is our own nation kids from some small city who dreamed to play for their NT since childhood and have emotional connection they wont play only if some bone is broken in their body.

Valanciunas,Jokubaitis,Kuzminskas was/is recent players we dont need to even ask. Just send them dates when camp starts.

95% of nba players with big egos wouldnt have come this summer after such insults in media Jonas got .But Valanciunas belongs to those 5 % and is from little town and was with nt jersey since childhood

I mean they are Lithuanians and its great to have support from outside but you cant solely rely on them. The NT must be carried by a core born and raised in Lithuania like JV and thats the main problem rn for the Lithuanian basketball. The best players are not born and raised in Lithuania and the quality of the "local" guys are just not enough.

This. Iggy simply had injuries in 2024 and now 2025. He loves playing for the NT. Buzelis cutting NT first NBA off season is no surprise. People have to remember that Sabonis last summer played through sprained ankle. The only bad thing to happen for LTU would be Buzelis sporadic participation. All other best as Sabonis (he will play 27, 28), Jakucionis, Jokubaitis, Indrusaitis, Brazdeikis, Stombergas are NT freaks. If Buzelis will turn out to be consistent member enough there will be zero issues. I just wonder if federation will be wealthy enough to make an insurance for Sabonis, Buzelis, Jakucionis and even Krivas, Stombergas in some 2029 EB. Those will be huge NBA contract and we never had such issue before.
 
As I see it the abstinence of Brazdeikis cant be compensated at all since we know that Grigonis is not gonna play either. The backcourt looks very thin. Jakucionis must be a real option if not earlier, then certainly now.

Our coaches won't see any issues and replace him with some mediocre scrub :D
 
Brazdeikis didn't played not because injury because of his wedding last summer.

Sabonis don't play because of new born kid both in 2023 and 2025

Somehow JV or Kalnietis Or Javtokas or Maciulis never missed summer because wedding or new born kid and all of them are fathers of 2 or more kids

It's all about do their really care or just play when timing is good for them personally?


Valanciunas played and when his kids was born and after his NBA rookie season.Why? Because he wants and when players wants he will go out of his way to play

My point was overall it's just pipe dream that outsiders will save NT who will be in and out in summers...

only true Lithuanians who will play every summer unless broken bone can do that ...if they aren't good enough don't expect foreign lithuanians to save who's emotional connection is just diffrent.

I said maximaze our NT chances every summer because winning medal looks unrelistic in 2020s levels anytime soon with such mediocre perimeter lineup that cant create things 1 vs 1

Im as long time NT fan would vote for naturalise perimeter 1 vs 1 scorer to help NT patriots Valanciunas,Jokubaitis and others in that fight they have very little chance to win in 2020s fiba levels.


But my point stays about Sabonis or Brazdeikis their dedication to NT is not same as Valanciunas,Kalnietis or Jokubaitis and they shown that themselfs with their actions

We know you, but you fail to know yourself. You tend to generalize, distort or ignore some facts and come up with subjective interpretation. Iggy surely had issues with health during Oly season, it's facts. It's probably a mix of everything why he skipped NT 2024, and we'll never know for certain, but injuries surely play a part here and it's not "because of weddings" as you put it.

Sabonis is less loyal than JV, yes. But JV is NT freak, like real real freak. Is Sabonis bad because he skipped NT in 1997, 1998? No. Is Jokic impact to the NT insignificant because he skipped some tournaments? Saras is not a legend because he skipped 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010? Nope. Not all players will be as loyal as Kalnietis and Valanciunas and that shouldn't discredit players who have solid, not freakish dedication to the NT.

Marciulionis once sacrificed his career and knees because of 1996 OG. Do I want to see that? No. He had to skip 1996, get healthy and win LTU medals in 1997EB and 1998WC.
 
So how things shape - no Sabonis, Buzelis, Jakucionis and only one vet JV as NBA player IN. Really amazing start of this new coaching staff. Players obviously thrilled to work with them.

OK, so injuries are injuries and there you can't do much, I can't blame coaches, but no luck as well. Butkevicius rumored to be out. Brazdeikis under question and will give answer after deeper look at his health status. The same goes to D. Giedraitis. If lose Iggy, we lose our best SG scorer today at SG and likely the most ISO gifted non NBA player. If we lose Giedraitis, we lose by far the best perimeter defender. I don't care much about losing Butkevicius. Solid player, but nothing to brag about too much. He gets talked about too much tbh.

Since Jakucionis is out, Marciulionis should be in the camp instantly. If Giedraitis is out, Marciulionis should be a lock.

Losing Sabonis, Buzelis, Jakucionis, Grigonis, Brazdeikis, D. Giedraitis, Butkevicius is a massive massive hit to the NT. It's like a B NT essentially. This would be more depleted NT than it was in 2023.

Balciunas says that Kleiza will have the word first after bad results. I didn't get if he should have a word on coaches continuing or not (that should be the case in normal situation as f.e. Grant Hill form all USA NT by himself essentially I believe) or he should be responsible for the results. It's all scam so far cause Kleiza just adjusting to whatever Kurtinaitis and Pacesas please and if he will be so conformist after bad results I will lose any respect for Kleiza in this position. He already was lazy, slow and conformist. But obviously now after bad results in 2025 EB Kurtinaitis will have an excuse "player didn't come" while he all year was attacking "unmotivated" players, almost directly asking them not to come. Not even talking about Pacesas rants.

I told u Kleiza and Balciunas is clearly lieing to media how funny they were describing situations of those players in April . Just dont talk like that if players is more in than out.

Why 20 days before camp start they still hiding candidate list? because federation is in scandal after scandal and now half of roster will not show up again and they dont want to tell that to lithuania people who dont follow situation closely , so waiting till last second to announce how they collected very "hungry" team :)


Balciunas will keep saying everything possitive. Federation doing best job ever and we need players who want to play,we dont need to try to convince anyone.

Thats bullshit in 2020s mindset of young people is tottaly diffrent hell yeah you have to try convince young talented people again and again


2023 half of roster didnt came, 2024 drinking fiasco 2025 half of the roster didnt come . Grigas scandal,Pacesas scandal all that happend in last 3 years.


Thast what our basketball deserved hiring person from court of corruption scandal .He dont care about lithuania basketball,he only cares about money loudering process and creating good system around to do that.
 
Seems like Marciulionis also out. He signed Exhibit 10 contract with Lakers and reported to be healthy only at the end of July. He will be with the Lakers in off season and pre-season and likely will earn 2 way contract. Happy for Augis cause he has a chance to be a role player in the NBA, IMO. Plays hard, unselfish, at both ends. A bit like T.J. McConnell. If he won't make it, what the hell, at least he'll know he never missed a try.

Kurtinaitis will have his dream team...All freedom to build the team from srubs, his and Pacesas biggest dream. I don't now what to say. It only makes me sad thinking who is running NT these days...

When federation head in non existant or just bad relationships with todays ltu whales what we expecting will happen with ltu basketball?


Zero chance to hire best ltu coach and that old school president dont even think about hiring foreign young modern coach.

Openly comes media and repeating again and again that NT 2025 coaching staff never was so qualified and have 2 olympiad medal winners :)

Its impossible argue with him thats true on fact base :) He literally talking with ltu fans like they are idiots,very similiar tactic how Putin is brainwashing russian people in media.
