2025 FIBA womens Asian Cup

I don't think Favour Onoh's exemption in the immediate future would be compromise

for as long as Manila, Philippines is her hometown while playing in D1.

unless she revert it to her birthplace in Nigeria

then that would be a different story

but as per previous interviews she reiterated that she is still part of the womens program

now as for our current campaign in China, well, it is given that we will eventually lost to the Opals

but not historically brutal.

it seems that the Opal remind us brutally that they will give a strong message to all It-It squad out there

"better shape up next time coz we(Opal) are not a fan of the mantra of small but terrible".

hopefully against the Lady Akatsukis, coach Pat and his girls should come up with a better performance

so that come the Lady Cedar's game it's all about the marbles.

LBN only scored 34 pts againts AUS, while PH scored 39 haha. LBN didnt play starters and just played zone by 2nd half. at least PH isnt physically overmatched against LBN as compared to AUS who are so physical and out to destroy teams, even pressing at end of the game and destroying LBN zone. PH can win against LBN by outrunning them. lets see

Tab can hire Dickel again haha if he doesnt want to coach women side, or just assign his protege (actually, I think no, if GAD training is required for Tab to get this position as rumors floated around before lol). if Patrick Aquino stays on as program director, it will be a coach from his coaching tree or maybe related to Fil-Am Nation. if Aquino wins the game against Lebanon, it's still his seat.

If he likes small ball.. his line up should mostly shooters and fast in all positions.. but his line up are not automatic shooters plus their quickness are not enough
 
maybe its just me but in order to beat Japan, just guard the 3 point line lol, if they managed to break the defense and penetrate inside, so be it, majority of their points right now came from 3s, and i don't think the story would change
 
strong start by PH. Jack imposing her will. good adjustment finally starting Surada, then Dela Rosa on the 4 spot. at least with can physical with Japan, and we can go with this pace. the 3 pt shot of Japan will kills us though.

Sugapong needs to be rein if she is not efficient.

they should just make those japanese girls drive, Jack looks to be on her good form right now so her presence would be a big help for the inside defense

small things like going under the screen, as much as Jack is our best player, she can be exposed at this level as Takada just shot 3pt shots in her face. now we dont have an answer at end of 1Q, trailing by more than 10.
 
Pagdulagan now made as ballhandler is good adjustment. Pestrana and Dela Rosa having no reps is showing, but promising.
 
Finally the Sugapong breakout we are expecting and waiting for. showed grit, willed herself to show up. finally acclimated to this level, maybe was trying to do too much since Jones Cup and early in the game. this play set with her as 2-guard, not main ball handler, not forcing things should be the way to go. she was going to get benched if she still show that spurt in the 2Q.
 
vdj, looks a different player post acl...so much potential.. Aquino want his players to be in optimal condition

i was about to be higher on Pastrana than Sugapong (before the 2Q breakout), but with more reps, she will acclimate herself to this level. she moves like she belongs. if she doesnt breakout in the 2nd half, then game against Lebanon will be my bet.

i think Suigapong just saw her matchup with Japan #26 and decided she is more skilled gritty player especially at the level she has reached haha.

but Japan showing why they are an Olympic level team. it's a veteran team but maybe an older team. hope to see some adjustment to take away their 3pt shooting

With having Sugapong and Panganiban there, VDJ's chance to be part of our national team is to be a local player... If not then sorry for her.. we badly needed big for naturalized spot
