2023 PBA Draft

I think Bankero is the real pronunciation. We now know because of his nephew that the guy is Italian descent on his father’s side. Was his mother Filipina or his grandparents or great grandparents I dont know. What I liked about this draft is they put the birthplace. I always hated the contrived Philippine roots of some of the Filfors. Like they always used to announce Lassiter was from Ilocos or something when it was actually a grandparent or great grandparent.

Paolo Banchero's dad and Chris Banchero's dad are cousins from their father side. both of which are of Italian descent. If im not mistaken, Paolo's mom is American while Chris' is of Filipino descent. so Paolo has 0 pinoy blood.

Christian david's fanily name should be same with how we pronounce Lon David's family name. da'bid.

On the third round picks, Mendoza, Mallillin and Fornillos all basically failed in the Tab system to be honest but were high level HS recruits so maybe teams are betting on past pedigree. Daves and Maandenburg at least made the rotation but have been out of the limelight since both gave up years. on UAAP eligibility hence I think they dropped.

Not just Ateneo but some guys really shouldve declared last season. I think Fran Yu is late first early second material last season tbh.

All three along with Verano have been very productive in the MPBL. They have very good shooting splits and contribute across the board.

I like to see if any of the MPBL guys pan out. Watching Pampanga this year gave me some appreciation for guys like Concepcion and Apolonio.

ROS just got bigger in the blink of an eye. Villegas (6'8), Datu (6'7) and Galinato (6'6). Yeng's team will no longer have size problems.

maybe the reason why kobe didnt declare for this yr is there is a big likelihood that he’ll drop to the 2nd rd

Oh Gawd. This hurt "Coach" Mav more than it hurts Kyt . The hype in the comment section is nothing but a hollow echo chamber.

NGL. he looks like Britney Griner

some of the comments was funny before he got drafted though. hahaha

Imagine a draft in the Future with

Remy Martin, Barefield, Sage, QMB, Hepa, and other Veteran Gilas Ineligible Fil Foreigns.

At least it will elevate the level of play in Pba.

Hopefully that will mean more local players in the range of 6'4 - 6'7 plays as a Guard or WIng

They will trade Galinato to tnt though. Maybe thats why TNT passed

im slowly starting to realize you dont want the Pinedas anywhere near the SBP hell maybe even gaining more power in the PBA might not be a good influence as well, his teams always has ulterior motives rather than basketball motives. Look at the players they drafted, all from pampanga / ssc.

I can see Bryan Santos being developed into a taller Kevin Racal clone. JL Delos Santos looks more promising as compared to Andrade while Fornillos is another David Murrell and Ayo didntl like him at all. To sum it up Converge's drafting was all over the place, its like they drafted based on bias rather than the needs of their team.

Which is the history of the team since Alaska days. It's like they are trying way too hard to find gems in the rough or have a fetish for utility players. Can't feel the difference of Delta and Rajko in this draft. Feels like Bachmann and Cariaso all over again.

Ricci could have helped the team's marketing and branding. Get more fans for a new and unpopular team.

I would've been OK with it had he drafted them beyond the 3rd round. Nobody will get the players they drafted so why the rush?

Converge could have ended up with Winston, Rivero, Galinato and Flores. Their frontline is basically Arana. LOL

They forfeited their right to call for parity when they make dumb@ss choices.

Imagine if Kobe declares, and gets drafted together with Ricci. Then the kicker is Kyt. It's the Third World Heatles!

I might be a bit biased here being a fan of Balti, but if they are indeed targeting him next year creating an entertaining yet flawed team is an effective way to do it. You play a quick pace, have a lot of guards and wings to score a lot of points but only Arana at the post ensuring you make the games exciting but also that teams can score against you by being a donut team. They picked 9 this draft. That's too low. This means they have to be even worse this coming season to get a better chance.

My problem with this though is I don't see Balti as a franchise player. He will be a good no. 2. However, I don't think it will be worth it to dump your season in order to get him. Delta is also stunting the development of his guy by keeping him in MPBL.

just curious guys, apparently Brent Paraiso is already 28 (from Google)?! Why did NCAA let him play last year? Damn PBA really likes drafting super old 'prospects' (not even prospects anymore, these are guys that alreadygot their ceiling)

After hearing Yeng rant about how big money teams had late draft picks but will eventually find a way to secure those big names might have revealed their line of thought when they surprisingly picked Keith Datu over a much younger and talented Zavier Lucero.

I think the Winston, Santos and Dela Santos were the Ayo picks and from there they just let Jacob Lao and Delta Pineda do what they wanted. Probably the only bigs Ayo was interested in drafting were Datu, Villegas and Bates to a certain extent but of course they were picked up earlier. And I believe they already have a surplus of 6'6" and above players in their current roster (Arana, Ambohot, Ebona, Porter, Zaldivar and Guinto). But getting an injured Andrade and Santos that early was a real head scratcher.

It will not be easy to out-tank Terrafirma and Blackwater.

the longhair effect + vic calvo of letran

Guys kindly confirm..thank you

Is that CJ Lane in the table of the Magnolia team from last night’s D-Day?

Seems very familiar.

It's kinda embarassing seeing rookies who are already 30yrs. Old 25,26,27 and above. Hopefully pba lowers the age limit to at least 20. The one and done might not look good on our filipino culture but why waste your time playing for your school for almost 7-8years lols. Does uaap and ncaa gives more than the PBA.

PBA has higher salary and perks but is a gamble since being a college star doesnt translate to pro success.

sad to say, they would rather rmaximize their playing years in college and get that paycheck than turning pro since joining the PBA is not a guaranteed success since you have to fight for a roster spot. We've seen a number of college superstars (RR Garcia, Jeric teng, Nico Salva) who got lost in the shuffle and out of the league in 5 yrs due to limited roster spots.

But yeah they need to fix these, we don't need another Abueva who reportedly overstayed in high school (8 yrs in high school) and college.
