Jordan is probably gonna join because their NT hasn't had much practice for the World Championship.

This gonna be brodcasted in ESPN as usual

which means there will be no trouble in Live streaming. (damn cable operator, who the heck watches ESPN Europe which broadcasts car racing and football in the Philippines).

Good Luck Gilas! Hopefully, Lassiter, Cawaling and Casio will have recovered by then.

do the organizers allow a naturalization candidate?

i had a dream where Greg Oden and Demarcus Cousins were playing for Philippines as locals and one small naturalized player(whom i dont know) and i think i saw chot reyes giving high-5 to coach toroman..:p i just dont know if its the jones cup.:D i cant really remember it well but the court resembles that of the jones cup :D:D:D
talk about excitement.:D

or this was just an effect of the fantasy line up that i posted in one thread.lol

is Demarcus Cousins a legit fil-am? i dont have an idea of it..

as far as I know, this is not confirmed yet ! Jones Cup has 0 importance for Iranian federation but Matic want to compete in this tournament with A team !

i think lebanon should participate with the B team if iran and china wont be sending their full rosters unless the coach found out that the team needs a lot of preparation before the wc.

First this is from the Taiwanese media, secondly from what you posted before in the "Iranian NT" thread, it looks like Iran "A" team will be joining Jordan NT in Italy during this time.

Yes, This was their primary plan but They are willing to make some changes due to Matic's request ! Italian tournament will finish 1or2 day before Jones Cup and Matic want a lower level tournament to test his bench players.

personally I doubt our A team (with complete roster) will compete in Jones Cup, I just want to say that this is still a possibility.

I think Iran will fild its a team minus the key players to avoid injuries or maybe play them sparingly the wbc bound teams should use jones cup as a field day for bench to prove themselves they deserve to be on rotation once Fiba world cup comes and become better players once asian games is around epecially Iran if Haddadi cannot be able to play because of his NBA commitments

2010 Jones Cup dates set - Jun 5, 2010 (by Chris Wang)
The R. William Jones Cup International Invitational Tournament, Taiwan's top international hoop event, will be held from July 13-21, a Taiwan basketball official said.

Seven men's teams and five women's teams will participate in the annual tournament in Taipei County's Sinjhuang Stadium, said Lee Yi-chung, deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Taipei Basketball Association (CTBA), Taiwan's top basketball governing body.

Host Taiwan will field its national teams and university all-star teams in both the men's and women's competitions, Lee said. Several of Taiwan's national players have injuries, however, and have said they will sit out in order to be in better shape to prepare for the Asian Games, which will be held in Guangzhou, China in November.

Among the men's participating teams are Japan's national team, Lebanon's national team, Iran's national second team, a club team from western Australia and the Philippines' national team.

Lee said he expected the Philippine team to be the top box office draw as usual because there are many overseas Filipino workers in Taiwan and because Filipinos are known for their passion for basketball.

'Moreover, this Philippine team was selected to compete for a berth in the Asian zone for the 2012 London Olympics. I think the team will be highly competitive, ' Lee said.

In the women's competition, Japan, Kazakhstan and Lebanon will send their national teams to compete with the two home teams.

The Jones Cup started in 1977 as an invitational tourney with national teams, club teams and university teams mainly from the Asian region. It was named after Renato William Jones, one of the founders and former secretary-general of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).

yep, Iran will field their B team.

this year's edition will s*ck. Only 7 teams are in. GO PHILIPPINES!

I think Western Australia will be fielding players from the State Basketball League; a semi-pro league; either:

#1 A selection of players from the State Basketball League

#2 A team from the State Basketball League such as Bunbury Slammers to the
Willetton Tigers.
