CANALETA!!!!!!! The slam dunk king becomes the three-point king!! :D

Perfect 5-of-5 from beyond the arc. His best performance from trifecta since his 29-point outburst against Coke where he also went 5-of-5 in the eliminations. This is one of the things I like about Air21, you never know who would catch fire... you check one player, the other one might surprise you... Not known for being an outside bomber, he was able to show to people that he is a streaky shooter as well...

In fairness, Eric Menk had a decent game even scored 1-on-1 over Thomas and drew a foul...

BGK has seen their 13-game winning streak snapped and then lost again in game 3.... hehe, if they are not careful they will be starting a streak of another kind...

caneleta burned the gin kings last night shoot 5 of 5 beyond the 3 pt line.. [English or provide a translation]

^IMO, he's a very streaky kind of shooter... kinda like Renren Ritualo... I don't really know... there are times he is lights out (especially during that Coke game) and there are times he is ice cold (more often than not)... problem with him, because of his average ballhandling ability and lacking the diskarte of let's say Arwind or KWill in the game, he sort of just settles with shooting from outside even at awkward moments... he doesn't know how to use his athleticism at the maximum... :D

I agree, KG lacks consistency. If he catches you on a good day, though, you're screwed.

Hehe... true, and yesterday was a GOOD day for KG... he was already checked after making a couple of 3pt bombs but was still hitting it even when there's already a hand in his face...

Paul Artadi has been hitting his jumpers lately... he must've been into a rigorous shooting training...

Yep, JJ is a big factor... but as long as we check their guard play just like we did in game 2, we'll have no problem...

Too early for Air21 to celebrate. I am sure Ginebra would enforce some adjustments. As the team has been known to successfully surface from drowning, it wouldn't be a surprise if Ginebra would win the championship.

Ginebra

Ginebra

Yes too early to celebrate for your team....
Watch out for GINEBRA next game coz they will play with fire and pride....
Few wins doesn't guarantee success...

Ginebra will win the SERIES...

Jayjay out; Santos, KG robbed
By Rey Joble

JayJay Helterbrand, Ginebra’s cerebral quarterback, will be out the entire series because of a pulled left hamstring.

A reliable source from the Gin Kings’ camp disclosed that Helterbrand’s injury would take some time before it gets better, making the Most Valuable Player of the Conference out of action the rest of the series.

Ginebra coach Jong Uichico said that they need to find ways to play without Helterbrand. The Gin Kings did play well offensively as Paul Artadi and Chris Pacana alternated at the point position in setting up the plays for the Gin Kings, but they were slowed down by the Express’ greyhounds.

The Express outscored the Gin Kings on transition, 13-2.

Perasol said the loss of Helterbrand was huge for Ginebra in the series.

“It’s obvious that they were hurt by the absence of Helterbrand and we did exactly a good job exposing their weakness in the point guard spot,” said Perasol.

Meanwhile, Arwind Santos, one of the leading candidates for the Most Valuable Player award, and KG Canaleta, Air21’s secret weapon in Game 3, became victims of pickpocket.

Santos lost his wallet and Canaleta his cell phone.

“Ang bilis nawala,” said Santos. “Hindi ko alam kung paano nangyari, nag-sign lang ako ng autograph tapos nawala na.”

now Rhk11 was right Cuneta is filled with pickpockets and other crime syndicates. Even players are not exempted from their indeed wrong acts of those individuals. A tighter security should be implemented for the management of cuneta might lose games from big leagues.

On the other hand Air21 will take this game, when Arwind, Gary D. and KG/Steven Thomas explodes on scoring. For BGK to beat them they should pressure Wynne Arboleda or Egay Billiones while they bring down the ball, Deny their perimeter and 3 point shoots and possibly shut down Homer Se and Steven Thomas at the rebounding stats.

Alexander, Ginebra Kings tie finals series
08/13/2008 | 10:36 PM

Email this | Email the Editor | Print | Digg this | Add to del.icio.us MANILA, Philippines – Chris Alexander dropped 22 points and grabbed 18 rebounds, and Ginebra got what it needed from players normally relegated to the backstage in a 90-77 win over Air21 in Game 4 Wednesday, tying the Smart-Philippine Basketball Association Fiesta Conference Finals at 2-2 at the Araneta Coliseum.

Outworked by Steven Thomas in Game 3 Sunday, Alexander returned to even things up with his Air21 counterpart as the Gin Kings held the Express to their lowest output over the last two seasons.

The lowest output the Express had before this one was an 87-73 loss to Coca-Cola on May 28, 2006 in a playoff for the outright quarterfinals berth, and the loss ended Air21’s run of 93 straight games where it scored at least 80 points.

Ginebra survived the absence of Jay-Jay Helterbrand this time and Mark Caguioa’s poor shooting form. The Best Player of the Conference missed his second straight Finals match after suffering a hamstring injury in Game 2, while Caguioa only shot 5-of-14 from the floor to finish with 13 points.

But Chris Pacana had 14 points, Paul Artadi contributed 13, Junthy Valenzuela scattered nine and Ronald Tubid came back from a dislocated left ankle injury last July 4 without even having a single practice game.

“I really appreciated the guys because they played even though some of them were hurting," said Ginebra coach Jong Uichico. “That’s the Ginebra spirit.

“But we only evened the series. It will all depend now on how healthy we are come Friday."

The Gin Kings limited the Express from making runs in the second half, and they succeeded this time in holding down Air21’s usually reliable three-point shooting.

Air21 only converted 4 of their 23 attempts from beyond the arc for a horrible 17.4 percent clip.

Thomas led the Express with 19 points and 16 rebounds, but the franchise seeking its first ever PBA title only got 14 points from Gary David, who shot 4-of-12 from the field, some of them forced shots.

Nino Canaleta, hero for Air21 in Game 3, was even held scoreless. – GMANews.TV

Ginebra played with a vengeance, tieing the series to 2-2. Despite Helterbrand's absence and Caguioa's low-scoring game, several Ginkings took the cudgels. Alexander outplayerd Thomas. Tubid was a welcome addition to the guards with his energy. Pacana and Artadi were co-Best Players of the Game with 14 pts and 13 pts, respectively.

Congratulations to the team! Hope to see another victory on Friday!
