It's called "school pride". And apparently, it's something money can buy you. Just ask MVP. :)

P15M for 2 years is not far-fetched. If I'm Mbala, I'd start the bidding at P10M plus car and condo under my name.

Question now is, how much "compensation" did SWU get? P5M perhaps?

So Nondou might have found a jackpot in his newfound career.. lol

If Mbala was good enough to against PBA imports at his age, he must be worth P15M for 2 years.

This is a logical move for Mbala who has an uncertain basketball career back in his country.

what im really afraid of is that what if mbala doesn't perform well in UAAP? im sure they gauge him on his PCCL stint in which it is completely different from the UAAP Wars. they really gambled on Mbala. wow.

maybe Qatars pay is much higher..
Ginagawa nilang nt member yun mga african eh..

But he might not be good enough for Qatar. At least he now has a decent investment for the rest of his life. Assuming he doesn't squander his money away.

I guess with these reactions we are now accepting the fact that our recruitment process in the amateurs is just fine?

Can we start calling them pros and free agents? ;)

he should be better than Mbah and should match well against other big men especially Mbala.

ASA lol trans: knowing UP, we hope that he should be serviceable at least.. to be fair with alinko I think we should be more patient and do not expect much from him in the 1st place

I can't fucking believe the money they are throwing to HIGH SCHOOL kids these days. Grabe. Unbelibaboy.

P15 million for two years is P7.5 million per year, which is more than what the "official" maximum salary for PBA players are.

I forgot about IMPORTS, and for an import, yes, "BM" could be, indeed, worth that much. A TEENAGER who has already proven himself against Professional PBA Imports.

If they can spend that much on High School players, I hope they don't forget the other sports, too. How about an Artificial Turf for Football, for example? It's contribution will definitely last longer than an Import in College Basketball ...

I am extremely uneasy about it, but then again, Basketball is the number one sport in the country. Besides, what CAN you do about such things?

If it is really "BM", and he is getting that much, HOW MUCH or WHAT is the school which he came from and released him getting, then? A new building wing? A new Basketball Court? LOL.

Maybe chance for their local players to go in their professional teams(mapa SMc or MVP)..

I have no idea. But certainly it has not reach Basketball levels yet. At least, I don't think so.

Also, Freddie I can understand he can command premium prices, but Chad? He left the Azkals just when they exploded in popularity. He was a consistent Goal Scorer with the Azkals, but now that I have seen him up close, not really impressed enough that he could command a high price ...

But still the situation is better than say 10,5 or 3 years ago..

SMC teams lang. They do have, what, 3 PBA teams, 1 ABL team, and God knows how many D-League teams.

Many? 26 na si Eliud nung maglaro sa d league.

TRANS: D league teams would not shoulder the transpo of the players from province. karaniwan try out system is done here.. so shoulder you own expense to try out in d league teams here..

hahaha. yes we should not expect much. it's my fault i expected high because of my perception that imports/foreign students should deliver well for the team. in the 1st place, they are recruited to dominate or at least, yes, be serviceable.
unfortunately as a fan, there's nothing much i can do. i can just hope that the team continuously develop and perform better than previous seasons.

One UAAP school spent millions on a newly-refurbished football field, courtesy of an old donor. Another school built a library on land where its football field used to be. Hopefully they take good care of the football field in their backyard as well.

Speaking of BM, I'd say he'll at least match up well with the premiere center of last year's runner-up. Question remains: How in the world are they going to divide a finite number of minutes among their three frontliners?

Do you mean this will slow down the development of AVO and the bear? 2 prominent choices for future bigs of the country who will cede playing time to a foreigner during their last years? Well, Mbala's SWU team actually beat the tigers during their semis matchup in the PCCL...that's sans karim and kf though so they weren't able to go one on one. looks like they play different positions though as mbala is more of an all around player more than a legit low post threat.
