Day 1, Group A: Philippines vs. Sri Lanka

  • Thread starter Thread starter PogiIT2
  • Start date Start date
Halftime: 44-17

Philippines: 14/28 50% (2PTs), 3/12 25% (3PTs), 7/16 44% (FTs), 10 Fouls, 8 Steals, 10 TOs, 15 Off. Rebounds, 16 Def. Rebounds

35 pts with only 4 minutes left in the 2nd quarter is very poor offense against a team like SL which probably doesnt have 1 player above 190cm ....this score isnt as impressive as many pinoys might think ...korea or japan would be up 50-10 against SL right about now

With Sri Lanka, it's not just a matter of lacking height - they just can't play ball if you judge by the first half.

44-17 halftime. Dont let that high lead fool you. We should have been up by 50 points by now. I'm still seeing the same problems in the JOnes Cup....turnovers galore, fouls galore, and horrible outside shooting. This has got to be one of the most reckless/bumbling blowouts I've ever seen in a game. I didn't see any precision plays, any finesse or sharpness at all. And to think we are the better team. I can't believe their guards are able to beat our defense,,thank God the Sri Lankans don't know how to finish.

Hooo boy hope things shape up tomorrow against Japan, because no way will we beat them if this is the way we play.

We really are playing like crap. It's not a measurement of how good our team is because it's just Sri Lanka but the things that we needed to improve on could get worse as the tourney progresses - 3pt shooting, fouls, rebounding, and free throws. This really doesn't look good, our 3pt shots will be more difficult to convert against the stronger teams when our players start feeling the pressure.

another larong buko game by RPteam. a lot of wasted opportunity

what network is covering the game? or is it on cable? pls post where we can watch the game.

the bright spot is that they have lots of assists...
There are less "dribble and dribble play"... way to go RP...

And maybe they are used to be the underdog in a game, and now that they are the favored they don't know how to act... They adjusted now hehe...

end of 3rd quarter
phi:86-26:sri lanka
we're still not shooting well from the 3pt area though.

Already its a given we're going to win this game....but this is not a feel good win at all, with the way we played. This win leaves more of a sour taste in the mouth and has me really worried for our game against Japan tomorrow, a team that is complete as to what they brought in the Jones cup.

86-26 after three quarters. Sri Lanka is practically dead after already not showin anything in the first half. Brave guys, attending a tournament like this although not being able to show more than low level highschool basketball.

Philippines need to step up a whole lot to stand a chance against better teams.

Why do we keep penetrating when we have a big lead already. They should shoot from the outside.

Oh boy I'm quite distracted with their body fit uniform... hehe

why were the players from the 2007 RP team changed like jimmy alapag and caguoi ? they were more talented and had much more fire power and ur centers have awful bodies ...taulava looks fat and out of shape and japeth looks like he hasnt eaten in a month .....this rp team doesnt look good ...when i saw them in 2007 i thought that RP was on the rise by keeping the players they had but getting more fil-ams maybe tall 1s and naturalizing a center but RP has taken a step back from 2007 ...they were maybe the 5th or 6th best team in 2007 , now their definitely not top 8 and their maximum potentiol is maybe getting to the 1/8 finals definitely wont win the game there ......
