Sorry bro, might be deemed non-bearing if Giles plays.

Well I think SG should be proactive and make the most of the situation. They bench Giles and try their darndest best to still win. Toroman should bring out his bag of tricks. Get back at the complaining teams by giving them an L in their record. Its better to get even. Even if they lose, they go out like lions not meek lambs.
Plus, as I opined in another thread, there is a silver lining here. Since Giles is more or less familiar with the current system but Slaughter and Fajardo are not. With Giles absence, the two would now be getting an opportunity to have more playing time. This may bring the two up to speed (or close to it) in time for December. Finally, this would be the best time to simulate a game where Giles gets inured or into foul trouble. One step back but two steps forward.
Bible-cutter? Ha ha, that made my night. Hmm, my selective observation huh. And now you deny your contention saying as follows:
Ha ha, you claim you didn’t mean that the pba is the single, easiest explanation for our decline. And I was only pinning you down by highlighting the portion and/or selecting and editing from your post. Man, you’re clutching at straws. Okay, so here is your original post in all its unadulterated glory:
Despite all the legal mumbo jumbo, its clear to me you concluded that the PBA is THE reason why we degenerated in basketball.
Anyway bro, if youre saying now that what you really meant is, while you think the PBA has a relation to RP basketball decline in Asia but there may also be other explanations existing as well, then I guess we turn out to be on the same page. If that is the case, how bout calling it officially a draw? If that’s not what you mean, lets keep the fun going.

Question:
Why is the PBA doing this to Smart Gilas?
Answer:
PBA = BAP
Translation: PBA is just a monicker for BAP with the three letters all jumbled up!

how ironic, while the pioneer team owners of the PBA dispised the BAP.
the PBA is now being linked now to the BAP. Well that's what you get
when Lito Alvarez is your Chairman of the Board.

the best way for the pba teams to help the national team is to play hard and play well against gilas. it's the only way for gilas to improve.
now that the games are deemed non-bearing, im sure pba teams won't play as hard. this won't be of any help to gilas.
hi guys,
I'll just give an alternative view but we are still all friends ok ? haha
anyway, I kinda agree with the PBA decision to consider games against Gilas as no-bearing. Why ?
Think about it. Gilas is in the PBA to practice their patterns not to mention using the games against PBA teams as an opportunity for Gilas to gell as a team.
On the other hand, the PBA teams are more or less gelling already and they allready got their team system well-practiced. Therefore, the PBA
teams are playing to win whether its against Gilas or not . On the other hand, GILAS will not progress as a team if they go into each game playing to win all-out because GILAS also needs to practice and develop further Toroman's various euro tactics.
so if the PBA games become no-bearing, then in theory, both the PBA teams and Gilas will use their games against each other to perfect their team patterns.
of course, the added bonus for the PBA, is that if the PBA teams will lose games against GILAS, it will let them save face since the games are non-bearing. This is more so now with the impending arrival of the two Visayan giants.
ogre; said:I beg to disagree. Gilas play patterns and strategies must be tested in a real game scenario to find out if it's effective or not. I say they play without Giles and take all those handicaps imposed on them by the PBA.
i agree with you 100% on this, but the no-bearing games has its benefit too since Gilas has less pressure to win and more focus on practice. Of course in the ideal world , it would have been best if every game was counted but what can we do. Gilas will just have to play along and make the most of the opportunity - anyway its only 10 games or so in the PBA , after this it will be international games...
my problem here is we know how PBA players threat no-bearing or exhibition games. But I'll give Sonny Barrios a benefit of doubt that the teams would play seriously and not turn the game into an allstar game or harlem globetrotter kind of game.
Why are people making excuses that Smart Gilas' games in the PBA are "no-bearing games?" Bearing or no-bearing, Smart Gilas needs to win to boost their confidence and to gain respect from the basketball community. Do you think Coach Toroman considers these games as "no-bearing?" I don't think so.
Smart Gilas is trying hard to win. To consider these games as "no-bearing" is ridiculous; give credit to the players and staff of Smart Gilas who are working hard to win. Just because a game is "no-bearing" doesn't mean that players will just player lackadaisically or make "experiments." Nobody loves to lose.
If we maintain such an attitude we will never succeed in international basketball. Our National Team should approach each and every game with seriousness and a sense of purpose. To consider some games as "no-bearing" only fosters bad habits that will kill this team in important international tournaments.
Just my 2.5 cents.
