Philippines 85 - Iran 84 !!!

congrats to philippines, they played very well and today we played horrible, selfish and nervous ! Mehdi did a big mistake in last 18 sec !
coach forced to use his best players (except Emad, he didnt play even 1 min) in second half but we lost. anyway it is a good lesson, i hope next time we dont underrate any opponent.

WTF...did Iran played its best players on this game? or did they held back to have a better seeding on the cross-over semis? honestly, i cant imagine iran, or any other team for that matter to not give it all at this stage of the tourney. so congrats to the boys..ang go get the koreans for 5th place..or china

HT Lebanon 45 - 37 Syria

its so sad that syria had a 20+ over the other teams from nothing !!
this is really unfair,i hope the fiba asia will use the system of head to head !

Anyway ahmad ibrahim topscored with 15pts and ralf akl 10pts

such a case proves that it is more fair to use the head to head since syria may qualify without even winning a game!!!!!!!!!!!

If syria wins the game,i will put my hands up for them wishing the best for them !
but if lebanon wins,it would be really sad and unfair for Lebanon !
We and iran seem to be the best but shit happens !

daniab are the lebanese players still hoping that winning by one point will make them qualify or they stopped beleiving in it???

khlass dani what happened happened...it's not in our hand...i know it's shame but complaining won't do anything...if the system that mohsena mentioned will be applied then it's great if not it's not the end of the world...let's take the positive things in this tournament...we gained 2 or 3 exellent players on top of them is ahmad ibrahim...we know we could be the best but unfortunatly we weren't 100% fit and we didn't have a good coach...:(:(

in fact, they are wishing to play again against kazakhstan to prove that they are way better than them !!
and yes they are wishing that a 1pt win will make them in the semis!

Wow! That Ibrahim guy is a beast. I think if there's another guy in that team who can support him or be a duo with Ibrahim, they should be looking forward to play in the semi-finals.

;)

Japan 81 - 75 Korea

Japan qualifies!

JPN / KOR – Japanese sun sets on Korea

TEHRAN (FIBA Asia U18 Championship for Men): Japan played a fantastic second half and posted an 81-75 win over last edition’s runners-up Korea on Tuesday to take the second semifinal berth from Group II.

The last time Japan made the semifinals was at the 2000 Championship at Kuala Lumpur.

Japan coach Yuji Yoshida made a tactical switch-over in defense towards the end of the second quarter, which saw Japan tighten the screws and open up more space for their fast breaks.

Japan outscored Korea 37-27 in the third quarter which marked their resurgence as well shut down the Korean chances.

Makoto Hiejima scored 15 of his game-high 26 points in the third quarter and Kaito Ishikawa 13 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Japanese charge.

Hiejima and Ishikawa had six assists each for the game. The latter collected seven boards.

“We came here looking for a top four finish,” Yoshida said.

“But until today we were not in full strength for any of the games. That’s the reason this result might look a surprising to a lot of people.”

“I knew we had a chance once we were at full strength,” Yoshida added.

Japan will play against hosts Iran in the semifinals.

“From now, it’s a matter of one game to take us to the world championship. The boys are aware of that. So anything can happen,” he said.

Scores

Japan 81 (Makoto Hiejima 26, Kaito Ishikawa 19, Yusoke Karino 17, Daichi Taniguchi 11) bt Korea 75 (Kyungsang Park 22, Dong Seop Lim 15). Quarterwise Scores: 17-25, 31-37, 58-54.

i see what you mean...i'm just disappointed that the RP boys cant bring their A-Game on a daily basis. i mean Korea and Iran were supposed to be equal but we got blown off by one and upset the other. Same thing with Japan, which was supposed to be a tier below the 2...but reading the news. i cant help but grimaced in pain when i read "Japan ran a clinic" against us..which was another way of saying "they took us to school"...oh well, i hope the core of the team will remain intact and be integrated seamlessly with the other members of the Senior's team so that we can have better results next time.

regarding the overseas pinoys..well, what can i say, we're everywhere!!!! i myself is living away from the motherland, but still continue to follow the exploits of our hoops team.
