Last night, Jordan Vogt-Roberts, the Director of Detective Pikachu, walked down the red (yellow, actually) at the premiere of the his film rocking a pair of custom Pikachu-inspired Air Jordan 1s. Take a deeper look at the Pokemon shoes above.

Vogt-Roberts decided to wear a track suit that highlighted his surprisingly dope Pokemon-themed shoes. The Director used Stomping Ground Customs and the company specializing in custom sneaks designed and built the shoes. In a very Flash and Quicksilver winged-shoe fashion, the sneakers feature a large Pikachu tail across the sides that looks very much like a lightning bolt. The body and the whole upper is a cel-shaded paint job.

Both rare Air Jordans and customized sneakers are always really expensive, but these Pikachu shoes were designed onto a pair of Off-White AJ1s as the foundation which easily makes them even more expensive; we’re estimating that these custom Pikachu kicks would run somewhere in the $5-10K range if you were to find them on the market.

Vogt-Roberts got it like that though, as he also directed films such as Kong: Skull Island, Metal Gear. Detective Pikachu debuts next Friday, May 10th and stars Ryan Reynolds as the voice of the diminutive yellow Pokemon.
