Jiri Welsch, Czech Republic
From: Welsch is a great shooter and an
excellent ball handler. He loves to play defense, and can take the ball to the
basket when he needs to. He played three professional seasons in the Czech
Republic before signing to play for Olimpija Ljubljana for the 2000-01 season. A
member of the Czech National Team, he is also a former member of the Czech
Junior National Team and the Czech Under-22 National Team. In his first season
with Olimpija Ljubljana, he came off the bench for much of the season, averaging
10.6 points and shooting 41.3 percent from three-point range. In his final
season in the Czech Republic in 1999-2000 with Sparta Praha, Welsch was one of
the league’s top players. He averaged 19.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists.
In 1998-99 in his debut with Sparta Praha in the Czech Republic, he averaged
11.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists. In 1997-98 with Pardubice in the
Czech Republic, Welsch averaged 14.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.8 steals. |
