Ibn Notes: Turiaf was diagnosed with a heart problem shortly after being drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers.  Turiaf's contract was voided and he underwent open-heart surgery in July 2005.

To say the least, Turiaf's basketball career was in jeopardy.
 Fast forward to the 2006-07 NBA season and Turiaf is back in action for a playoff-bound La Lakers team.  His energy, hustle and sportsmanship coupled with injuries to Kwame Brown, Lamar Odom and Luke Walton, made Ronny a fan favorite as well as earning his way into Phil Jackson's rotation.  His career looks back on track, and with a lot of promise.
