Ricky Rubio, Spain![]() |
Name: Ricard Rubio Vives Nickname: Ricky Born: October 21, 1990 Status: Active Origin: El Masnou, Barcelona, Spain Height: 6-4/1,90m Weight: 181lbs/80kg Schools: N/A Drafted: Undrafted Languages: English Website: InterBasket Teams (jersey): DKV Joventut (32) Ibn Notes: A super prospect that has many saying that Rubio has the potential to become one of the best players ever to come out of Europe. Not the fastest player nor the highest leaper, Ricard Rubio has that zen, that amazing feeling for the game combined with an exuberant approach (as expected from a 15 year old) that has everyone talking. With his wiry body, big eyes, dribbling skills, and creativity, Rubio not only looks the part of Pete Maravich, but has the chance to surpass the pistol... see, Rubio isn't just an amazing scorer and passer, his long arms and anticipation plays the passing lanes for steals and despite his lack of girth, the 6-4 point guard has a knack for corralling more than his position's share of rebounds. Already Ricky Rubio has had a great beginning to his story... in 2005, as a 14-year old, Ricky Rubio was the youngest player ever to appear Spain's ACB league, which is regarded by most as Europe's finest national basketball league. And in 2006's U16 European Championships, Rubio recorded a quadruple-double in a game against Croatia with 19 points, 13 assists, 11 steals, 10 rebounds in 33 minutes (actually achieved the quadruple-double in only 28 minutes of play).. if that wasn't enough, Rubio put up a Wilt Chamberlain-esque statline when he recorded 51 points, 24 rebounds, 12 assists, and 7 assists against Russia in the tourney's final. which Spain won 110-106. Does it go without saying that you should keep an eye on this kid's development over the next few years? |
