Fiba.com: Nicknamed “Kikas”, Joaquim Gomes became THE power forward in Angola after the retirement of legend Jean-Jacques Conceiçao. Gomes joined the National Team at only 19 years old. Under the tutelage of Jean-Jacques, Gomes has learned to survive at the world's best level. A graduate of the University of Valparaiso, he scored 13.1 points and grabbed 8.8 rebounds during his senior season. After going un-drafted in 2004, Gomes spent a year in German Bundesliga (5.7 ppg and 3.7 rpg) before joining the Eiffel Towers Den Bosch in the Netherlands last fall.

He is currently more a rebounder than a scorer. But he has the experience of playing at the Olympic Games (2004) and a World Championship (2002) as well as winning the last 3 African Championship with Angola.
