What did Vince Carter say to Stephen Curry after Golden State’s win?

After another mesmerizing performance by Stephen Curry in a game that eliminated the Memphis Grizzlies from the NBA playoffs, Vince Carter walked up to Curry for the customary congratulations.

However, there seemed to be a little more than the normal dap, hug, and “good luck” that went on between Carter and Curry. So what did Vince Carter tell Curry after the game?

From what you see on television, Carter waits until Curry is finished with on-court interviews. Usually the losing side doesn’t hang out on the court that long, so it was clear that Vince had something he wanted to tell Curry.

Carter, a 17 year veteran of the league, played with Steph’s father, Dell Curry when they both suited up for Toronto. So surely that played a part in Carter’s post game chat.

What did Vince Carter say to Steph Curry

As Curry meets Carter, you can see the former Toronto Raptor’s star say ““You got this far, man. Keep it going.” as he pulled Curry closer. All in all, the players embraced for more than 15 seconds, arms around one another; each showing the other respect.

Not sure what the entire conversation entailed, but you could tell there was an admiration on Carter’s side for Curry’s skills set and approach to the game. I’m sure it was all good feelings.

And both players had reason to feel good. Carter in a bench role for the Grizzlies, had his best game of the series; scoring 16 points on 5/7 shooting in 26 minutes.

Curry for his part, wasn’t as efficient as Vince (shooting 11-24), but almost every shot the NBA MVP made seemed huge because of the degree of difficulty. Curry ended the game with 32 points and hit 8/13 3-pointers, including a 62-foot swish to close the third quarter. Curry also added 10 assists and 6 rebounds for his first double-double in the post-season.
