The best NBA divisional bets to place heading into 2020

With a handful of legitimate title contenders, this season’s race for the NBA Championship is the most open it has been for a number of years.

This all means we are going to get an exciting end to the regular season and an even more thrilling playoff campaign. There are arguably six teams you can make a strong case for to succeed in the championships in June. Given how difficult it will be to pick the winner of the NBA Finals, the best way to bet this season is in the divisional markets. Here are three teams that look to be a great bet in their respective divisions.

Boston Celtics To Win Atlantic Division

The Toronto Raptors have reigned supreme in the Atlantic Division over the last couple of years. However, the Canadian side are now without Kawhi Leonard, therefore, their grip on the title may come loose this season.

The Boston Celtics have made the best start to the campaign in this division and there is no reason why they can’t win the title for, what would be, the second time in the last four years.

Young duo Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have been excellent in recent weeks, making a case to be part of the 2020 NBA All-Star Game. While Kemba Walker, who is having a career year, is topping the team in average points per game. With the return of Gordon Hayward to form and Marcus Smart’s improved three point shooting, the Celtics are looking like legit beasts of the east.

The Celtics are +200 in the NBA betting on the Atlantic Division where they should be taken to topple the Philadelphia 76ers and Raptors.

Utah Jazz To Win Northwest Division

The Denver Nuggets currently lead the way in the Northwest Division where they are second in the Western Conference behind the Los Angeles Lakers. However, this is a division that is far from locked up.

Utah Jazz have won eight of their last ten games and are making a strong charge for the title which would be only their second success in the last 12 years.

Utah proved how strong they are with a 120-107 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers recently. Donovan Mitchell scored 30 points in that match, while Jordan Clarkson, who was recently acquired in a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers, played his second game for his new team.

Jazz are second best in the betting in this division but should be taken at +137.50 to top the standings at the end of the regular season.

Los Angeles Clippers To Win Pacific Division

The Pacific Division really is a two-horse race this season between the two franchises in Los Angeles, and whoever does come out on top at the end of the campaign will be the favorites to go all the way to winning the NBA Finals.

Even though the Lakers have a better record, the preference here should be given to the Clippers, despite the Lakers currently having a season that looks better on paper. Last season’s NBA Finals Most Valuable Player, Leonard has stepped up his game in recent weeks, with his 35 points in his side’s victory in the battle of Los Angeles, the highlight of his season so far. In addition to Kawhi’s play, let’s not forget that the Clips have Paul George, Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell.

That trio just pulled off the rare feat of each scoring 30 points in one game. That’s scary.

Leonard was brought into the Clippers to help them win their first-ever NBA Championship, and he gives them a great chance of doing that. But the first aim will be to secure the Pacific divisional title where they are a good bet at -110. The 2019020 regular season comes to a close on April 15, after which the path through the NBA playoff bracket and there will be one team to come out of the NBA Finals as the new champion (sorry Toronto Raptors).
