Spain Keeps on Rolling

Rudy Fernández vs France (Photo: C. Fornas)Spain 87: France 72
Just one day after downing Dirk Nowitzki and Germany, and with five days until the first match of Eurobasket 2007, Spain beat France 87:72 in an intense preparation game in Alicante, Spain.

It was the 26th consecutive win for the Spain, who remain unbeaten since September 25 2005 (including the Gold Medal in the 2006 World Championships). A series of wins that still leaves the question unanswered whether anyone can stop the spanish. Their last defeat was in the 2005 Eurobasket bronze medal game against the very same opponent – France.

Spain was led in scoring by Pau Gasol, who had 20 points and 7 rebounds, while Rudy Fernández of Joventut Badalona scored 16. Tony Parker led France with 24 points and 5 rebounds. Juan Carlos Navarro – who is going to play his first season for the Memphis Grizzlies this year – was rested because of precaution reasons, as he suffered a minor injury before. His participation in Eurobasket 2007 is not endangered though.
