Under Armour and their CEO Kevin Plank have found themselves in a political firestorm after Plank called President Trump a “real asset” to the country during an interview on CNBC.

After hearing that comment, one of Under Armour’s most valuable athlete, Stephen Curry joked that he agreed with that description, but only “if you remove the ‘et’ from asset.”

Yes, Curry just called Trump an “ass”. Good on him.

The superstar guard said that he followed up with the company following Plank’s pro-Trump comments. “I spent all day yesterday on the phone,” Curry told the San Jose Mercury News on Wednesday, “with countless people at Under Armour, countless people in Kevin Plank’s camp, my team, trying to understand what was going on and where everybody stood on the issue.”

Following the media firestorm on Wednesday following Plank’s “pro-business” comments, Under Armour (UA) released a statement saying that they’re about “policy, not politics.” The company also distanced itself from some of Trump’s more controversial positions, saying it advocates for free trade and inclusive immigration policy.

It sounds like it’s a little too late for that statement. And Steph Curry felt “okay” about his chat with UA. Curry drew the line that he wasn’t a player that could be bought: “If I can say (Under Armour’s) leadership is not in line with my core values, then there is no amount of money, there is no platform I wouldn’t jump off”

Past players such as Chauncey Billups and Tracy McGrady said they were proud of and applauded Curry’s stance.
