How to pass the time before the 2021-22 NBA season tips off on October 19th

The NBA offseason can be somewhat interesting with the NBA Drafts and talk to trades.   In recent years, there have been some epic trades and signings that raised our collective blood pressure for a day or two, but for the most part, the offseason isn’t very rich with NBA entertainment.

For seome reason, it’s harder to deal with the last few weeks before the NBA season tip off than it is when we’re two or three months away. The anticipation just takes over our emotions.

The complete absence of games and the news that comes along with it leaves a void in the lives of NBA fans. So, if you’re like us and hate the offseason, here’s a couple ways to stop the boredom that comes with waiting out August, September and early October.

Watch the new Space Jam movie

You could always watch some older movies with NBA players, but why do that when Space Jam: A New Legacy was released this summer after years of waiting. This means you finally get to see LeBron James team up with Bugs Bunny on the big screen after the baton was passed to him by Michael Jordan. You can stream A New Legacy on HBO max if you didn’t catch it in theatres. Honestly, you don’t want to miss it.

Work on your game

The good news about the offseason is that it coincides with the summer months – that means you should get out of your house and onto the blacktop to work on your game. With no shortage of basketball how-to videos from professional and unofficial basketball trainers on YouTube and Instagram, there’s no reason why you can’t add a couple weapons to your game. Watch a couple Klay Thompson videos and then go out and put up one hundred corner threes. Check out Kyrie Irving and then get in the lab to work on your counter moves.

Play online games

Online games are a great way to pass the time and forget about the boredom of the offseason. You could play the above-mentioned NBA 2K (NBA 2K 22 just released!) or just random games that you enjoy. Have you ever tried online casino games before? Y’know, like poker or slots? They’re some of the best online games in the world. Visit Royal Vegas Casino to make an account and get started. Bye-bye offseason blues!

Brush up on NBA documentaries

Over the past couple of decades, there have been some legendary NBA documentaries released. These documentaries are must-sees for any true NBA fan. The Last Dance (this documentary birthed the insanely funny Michael Jordan meme: “And I took that personally!”) Some other documenaries to consider.

These NBA and basketball documentaries are available on most streaming services, so if you already have Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu and Amazon Prime, you have access to dozens of great (and not so great) basketball documentaries.

Prepare for NBA Fantasy League

The NBA just wouldn’t be the same without fan fantasy leagues and the good news is you don’t have to wait until the season to start evaluating players. Fantasy leagues allow friends and family (and strangers) to compete together to see who would make the best General Manager of an NBA team. If you haven’t already joined a fantasy league for the upcoming NBA season, start looking at players with NBA.com’s top 150 fantasy player rankings.

Follow other fans on Twitter

NBA Twitter is always making waves. From fan arguments to angry tweets from players, there’s never a quiet day on NBA Twitter. For example, fans recently went after Kyle Kuzma for his tweetsSearch up your club’s hashtag to follow other fans and engage with the community. And don’t be scared to voice your opinions through tweets. After all, it’s all part of being a fan!

Stay up-to-date with players’ personal lives

Just because it’s the offseason doesn’t mean LeBron, James Harden, Russell Westbrook and all the other players go into hibernation. When they’re not on holiday, most players continue to train during the offseason, which you’ll be able to stay up-to-date with by following them on Instagram.
