NBA Unremembered: Let’s Recall 7 Full Court Heaves and Logo Buzzer Beaters from NBA History?

In the history of the NBA, it’s filled with iconic moments, from game-winning buzzer-beaters to championship-clinching shots. There’s so many highlights to consider we sometimes forget about some of the more amazing plays. We’re going to review some  desperation heaves—low-percentage, half-court prayers that often get forgotten in the chaos of a game.

While these shots are rarely designed, when they do go in, they create some of the most jaw-dropping, unexpected highlights in basketball history. Some have stunned crowds, others have saved games, and a few have even changed playoff series. In this list, we’re going to revisit a handful of forgotten half-court heaves that. Do you remember these wild, last-second miracles?

2024: Jokic Stuns Warriors From Half Court

With the game tied and just seconds remaining, Nikola Jokić banked in a 39-foot buzzer-beater to stun the Golden State Warriors in a 130-127 victory. The Nuggets had trailed by 18 points midway through the fourth, but Jokić led a 25-4 closing run, capping it off with his last-second heroics. With the Dubs’ Kevon Looney contesting, Jokić calmly took the pass in the backcourt, dribbled up, and launched an off-balance three that kissed off the glass and through the net. Typically reserved, the two-time MVP let his emotions fly, jumping in celebration as teammates swarmed him at halfcourt. Jokić finished with 34 points, 9 rebounds, and 10 assists, proving once again that when the game is on the line, putting the ball in his hands is always a good idea.

2007: Gilbert Arenas vs. Bucks

First on this list is Gilbert Arenas. Back in January 3, 2007 No Chill Gil stunned fans with a game winning shot from afar. With the game tied at 103 against the Milwaukee Bucks and the clock winding down, Arenas launched a shot from just behind the half-court line at the buzzer. His loooooong three clinched a victory for the Washington Wizards. Arenas ended the game with 32 points, 11 rebounds. and 8 assists shooting 12-25 from the field.

2010: Tyreke Evans’ Buzzer-Beater

Similarly unforgettable for Sacramento Kings fans were Tyreke Evans’ game-winning heave on December 29, 2010. Facing the Memphis Grizzlies, the Sacramento Kings trailed by a single point with just seconds remaining. Evans caught the inbound pass, raced to midcourt, and released. As the ball swished through the net, fans erupted in disbelief and excitement. The rarity and excitement of such events underscore why basketball enthusiasts flock to platforms like casinos for iPhone, where thrilling moments and unpredictable outcomes parallel the exhilaration found courtside. Evans finished with 21 points complimenting Beno Udrih’s 24 points and rookie Demarcus Cousins’ 21 points off the bench.

2015: Stephen Curry’s Two Threes vs. Pelicans

Stephen Curry, widely acknowledged as one of the greatest shooters in NBA history, has multiple memorable half-court shots to his name. However, perhaps the most astonishing occurred during a playoff game on April 23, 2015, against the New Orleans Pelicans. Curry drained a buzzer-beating three-pointer from the corner under extreme duress to force overtime, a crucial shot that sent the 2015-16 Golden State Warriors to a surprise championship run. By the way, that last three should have been a game winner because Curry was absolutely tackled by Anthony Davis and Tyreke Evans.

2012: J.R. Smith’s Miracle Shot For Knicks

Here’s a shot for Knicks fan courtesy of J.R. Smith on November 20, 2012. Playing for the New York Knicks against the Charlotte Bobcats, Smith grabbed a rebound with mere seconds remaining and immediately launched the ball from beyond midcourt. The ball gracefully sailed through the hoop, leaving fans and commentators alike in awe of the near-impossible execution.

2014: Damian Lillard and Dame Time

Damian Lillard has had several clutch performances with the game on the line. On November 8, 2014, Lillard drilled a half-court buzzer-beater against the Cleveland Cavaliers. With poise, precision and calm, Lillard broke the tie and defeated the Cavs 119-116. Dame finished with a game high 36 points.

2001: Baron Davis vs. Bucks

Let’s not forget Baron Davis’s incredible half-court shot against the Milwaukee Bucks all the way back in 2001. Playing for the Charlotte Hornets, Davis launched a perfectly arched heave from half-court, just as the halftime buzzer sounded, and watched it drop cleanly through the net, leaving the entire arena in shock. But that wasn’t even his most absurd shot—later that season, he hit an unbelievable 89-foot (27-meter) heave with just 0.7 seconds left in the third quarter, cementing his reputation for making the impossible look effortless.

While these half-court shots may not carry the same weight as a clutch full court heave or a deep dagger from Stephen Curry, they still hold a special place in NBA history. These moments remind us that sometimes luck, timing, and sheer audacity can create highlights just as thrilling as a perfectly executed play. Whether they were buzzer-beaters, momentum-shifters, or just wild circus shots, each of these desperation heaves is a testament to the unpredictability of basketball—a game where, sometimes, even the impossible becomes reality.
