With 28,000 points in the bag at 32 years and 36 days, LeBron James became the youngest player in NBA history to reach that point plateau. James was also the youngest player to reach 20,000 career points in the regular season.

The previous record holder was Kobe Bryant, whom James surpassed by more than one year. Kobe was a relatively-ancient 33 years old and 131 days when he took the record. The next big points milestone for James will be the 30,000 points.

If he continues at his current pace and without any significant injuries, he’ll be the youngest (and fastest) hit 30,000 point mark next season. Without any hiccups, he’ll probably hit the 30K mark toward the end of the 2017-18 NBA season.

Once he hits 30,000, he’ll be just the sixth player in all of NBA history to surpass 30K. Not bad for a player that’s known for his playmaking and chase down blocks as much as he is for his scoring. To further emphasize how impressive that is, LeBron will join five players that are known scorers: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malon, Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan.

These youngest to xx,xxx point “records” were all owned by Kobe Bryant until LeBron came a few years after and started gobbling them up. And thanks to the NBA rule barring high school players from jumping directly to the NBA, LeBron will hold these “youngest” records for some time.
