Kevin Durant, Kevin Love Returning to Team USA

After Team USA captured the gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, we expected that the 2016 roster would be comprised of most of the same members and on Wednesday, two of them officially committed to the squad.

According to, Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant and Minnesota Timberwolves big man Kevin Love both announced they will return to play for Team USA at an impromptu press conference at the team’s minicamp in Las Vegas. They are the first players to verbally commit to play for head coach Mike Krzyzewski, who also recently signed on for another go round.

Durant said he told Coach K in person that he would be coming back, while Love made his announcement at the news conference alongside USA Basketball managing director Jerry Colangelo.

We’re still waiting to hear commitments from stars such as LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Carmelo Anthony, but now that two players have jumped on board, we may hear something soon.

Meanwhile, 27 NBA players and a handful of collegiate stars are battling for Team USA roster spots at the camp, which concludes tomorrow. Damian Lillard, Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis, John Wall, Klay Thompson and Jrue Holiday are just a few of those participating.
