Boston Celtics, NBA, NBA Finals

Have The Boston Celtics Improved and Matured Enough To Make The 2023 NBA Finals?

The NBA Draft and Summer League have come to a close, trades have been undertaken and it’s now all about fitness and getting game sharp for the 2022-23 campaign. October may be a couple months away but the top NBA teams already have their rosters set for the new season. We say that even with the prospect of Kevin Durant or Kyrie Irving moving teams.

So it’s a good time to look at the teams in contention. According to our expects and popular media, there’s a good chance that we may be looking at a repeat of the 2022 finals series as the Golden State Warriors defeated the Boston Celtics

Boston Favored By Vegas Odds, But Media Says Bucks, Warriors

Even though online betting sites affiliated with SBO.net put the Boston Celtics as favorites to win the championship in 2023 with the Warriors closely behind in the overall odds, the media seems to be leaning in on other contenders.

The consensus seems to be that a healthy Milwaukee Bucks and the defending champions Golden State Warriors are the teams to beat on either side of the conference. Even though the Celtics are coming off a successful run in last year’s playoffs; there are questions about whether the team is mature enough to win an NBA championship with a fully-loaded Bucks squad, a motivated Philadelphia Sixers team, and the always-ready Miami Heat set for vengeance.  Not to mention the the Phoenix Suns and a Kawhi Leonard-led Los Angeles Clippers team.

There is time for those markets to change before the start of the new season. As and when any updates do come in, Sbo.net will list the new figures on their website. There is room for news stories and opinion pieces, together with betting guides and reviews of each sportsbook. Anyone wishing to put all of the knowledge to the test is able to do so. If a sports betting site is referenced here they will be willing to accept new customers, subject to eligibility requirements and a completed, secure registration form.

Once that process is complete, there is likely to be an opening promotion to welcome customers on board. A set of deposit and withdrawal options can help with adding necessary funds while customer services can assist with that sign up stage. Moving forward, account holders could also look forward to in-play markets, betting on a mobile device via an app and the potential to live stream top class sport. It’s the site to follow from a basketball betting perspective but are those predictions correct?

Boston Celtics Championship? Why and Why Not

The starting five of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, Al Horford and Robert Williams are back and the Celtics will go into the new season with a roster that looked very much like the team that took them to the NBA Finals in 2022. The roster also brings back key contributors in Grant Williams, Derrick White, and Payton Pritchard.

The team didn’t need to go overboard with trades. The one thing they definitely needed in the offseason was to shore up their bench scoring and bring in a playmaker. By those measures, Boston made two key acquisitions. Malcolm Brogdon has crossed from the Indiana Pacers. The point guard that accomplished a rare 50-40-90 season and former Rookie of the Year brings stability, shooting efficiency, and experience to the one spot.

The Celtics also signed 33-year-old Danilo Gallinari. Gallo may not have too many years left in the tank but the power forward can fill a gap, hit midrange jumpers and provide scoring punch off the bench.

Even with a shored-up roster, the Celtics still have questions. One core concern is the health of Robert Williams. When Williams was on the court, he was a force to be dealt with on both the offensive and defensive side. With him, the Celtics go from a great defensive team to an elite one.

Two of them being whether they can remain disciplined enough to overcome their turnover-prone losses last season. Teams that make deep playoff runs can come into the next season in two distinct ways. They can come in hungry and focused; working on their shortcomings and getting to work, showing the league that they’ve learned from their experience contending for the championship.

The other side is overconfidence. That they’re going to just come into the season and dominate without the required work and reflection in the offseason. These teams usually still do well in the regular season, but whether they’ve evolved or improved enough will be on display in how they perform in the playoffs.

And it’s in those playoffs that they’ll face off against a mix of the 76ers, Bucks, Heat and Brooklyn Nets. If they can overcome the Eastern opponents, an experienced Golden State, a hungry Phoenix Suns and Kawhi-led Clippers team are awaiting them in the Finals.
