On July 30th, the NBA restarted their season with a total of 22 NBA teams invited into the Walt Disney World Resort bubble. The resumption of the season happened without the presence of eight teams that didn’t quality: the Charlotte Hornets, Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons, Atlanta Hawks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors – in order of best of the worst to worst record.
It’s hard to believe that those 22 teams have already played eight regular season games; got back into shape and the seedings for the playoffs have now been determined.

The best 22 teams were chosen for the bubble based on their records when the season was suspended back in March. That includes the sixteen teams in the main bracket that would have made the playoffs based on NBA standings and six teams that were vying for that eighth and final postseason spot. This is what the NBA playoff bracket looks like with seedings:
Altogether there are 13 teams from the Western Conference and 9 teams from the Eastern Conference.
NBA Play-in Tournament
The league also outlined a play-in tournament for the No. 8 seed in both conferences. The play-in game(s) will only be activated if #9 seed is four games (or fewer) behind the #8 seed in the final league standings. If not, then the #8 seed will proceed into the larger bracket based on their record. The Memphis Grizzlies made this happen in the West, and ended up losing to the #8 seeded Portland Trailblazers led by CJ McCollum‘s big fourth quarter

Damian Lillard, McCollum and the Blazers will now move into the main playoff bracket and face off against #1 seeded Los Angeles Lakers led by LeBron James. NBA Season and Playoff Schedule
The NBA resumed the 2019-20 season starting on July 31 after putting the season on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic. As for the timing of the 2020 NBA Playoffs, the play-in mini tournament started on August 15, 2020. The mini play-in playoff games would be a best of two with favored to the #8 seed where the #9 seed would have to win two consecutive games while the #8 seed would only have to defeat the seed would need to defeat the No. 8 seed two games in a row. The main playoff bracket kicks off on Monday, August 17th all the way to Game 7 of the NBA Finals (if necessary) scheduled for Oct. 12.
