CSKA Moscow 77-74 Panathinaikos

CSKA Moscow has probably the worst fan base in the whole Euroleague. There is theater atmosphere when they play at home and no body is concerned with the game until the very end. Sometimes it looks like players are more pumped up when they play away games.

In today’s game Panathinaikos showcased experience and great knowledge of the game, which can’t be said for their head coach Alvertis Fragiskos. At the end of regulation Panathinaikos had the last possession and a chance to win it. Players hit the hardwood after a time out and all of us in front of the TV witnessed the worst play after a timeout that a coach has ever made.

Luckily for Panathinaikos, their captain Dimitris Diamantidis is one of the most skillful and basketball smart players in the league. He led the team to this result as he does all season and truly made his presence on the floor make a difference for his side. He finished the game with 10 points and 7 assists. Jonas Maciulis had a great game as well finishing with 14 points and 5 steals.

CSKA Moscow missed their star player Milos Teodosic due to a season ending injury of his tibula. So now it is all about Weems and company. Today he finished the game with 21 points and made some clutch shots. He also had 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Victor Khryapa and Kyle Hines were dominating under the basket and crashed the boards. Khryapa finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds while Hines had 15 points and 8 rebounds in the game.

Emporio Armani Milan 99-101 Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv

In a high scoring game Maccabi managed to steal the win in overtime against Emporio Armani. The Israeli side is the first team till now in these playoffs to win away from home. Milan looked like they were in control and actually had the lead most of the game managing to build a 12 point difference at the end of the third quarter. Four minutes until the end of regulation David Moss hit a three pointer to make it a 12 point game for Armani. Late game heroics from Ricky Hickman and Tyrese Rice for Maccabi led the game to overtime.

The same story from the end of the game continued in the extra period. Hickman and Rice continued to make basket after basket. They both stayed perfect from the free throw line in these five minutes of extra play managing to score 18/18 free throws combined. Hickman scored 18 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter and OT. Rice added 17 points to that.

Emporio Armani used 9 players in this game and six of them scored in double figures. Keith Langford led the way with 18 points and Samardo Samuels added 17 points and 7 rebounds to that. Daniel Hackett had a good game as well finishing with 11 points 6 assists and 3 steals.
