The 2013 FIBA European Championships of Basketball, formerly Eurobasket, started several days ago with 24 teams competing for bragging rights in Europe. The tournament began on September 4, and will finish with the title game on September 22, 2013.
Spain hopes to defend their title in Slovenia with challenges from strong national teams such as France, Lithuania, Serbia, and Russia.

Those 19 other teams are Belgium, Bosnia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Finland, F.Y.R. of Macedonia, Georgia, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Montenegro, Poland, Sweden, Turkey, and Ukraine.
Not only are these teams coveting the gold medal, but maybe more importantly, are the six guaranteed spots to next year’s FIBA Basketball World Cup at stake.
This is the 38th European Champions tournament and Spain hopes for a three peat this tournament, having won the 2009 and 2011 editions.
