How we relate to basketball is generally decided by where we grew up and what we are exposed to. In the United States, the obvious influences are the N.B.A. and college basketball.  And in Europe, the Euroleague competition is the highest form of basketball on that continent.

But what if you were a basketball fanatic in Europe, but grew up in Finland instead of Spain?

Or a Briton that loves hoops in a football-crazed Great Britain?

Well, here at Interbasket, we do our best to cover the countries that aren’t exactly known as basketball hotspots, but have fans looking to connect with other fans about the latest news, updates, trades, and results from their domestic leagues or national teams.

So, following up on our post highlighting that yes, there is basketball in countries such as Syria, Egypt, Lebanon and Iran, we’d like to give some love to under-represented basketball regions in Europe.

Interbasket has a great thread about the 2008-2009 LPB, the Portuguese basketball league, with the most updated news and results from Portuguese fans Luíz for 3, Costa AKA Visseira, nmmb, Johnny21, and of course, rikhardur.

Obviously, not every European basketball fan is lucky enough to be born in Spain, Greece, Italy, or Serbia where basketball info is much more easily-accessed, and reported-upon.
