The 17 best Virginia NCAA Championship shirts, sweatshirts, hats and UVA gear

They did it. The University of Virginia Cavaliers did a complete 180 from their devastating first round loss last year to become National Champions. The only way that UVA was to be able to flip the script on being the first #1 seed to be upset by a #16 seed in March Madness history was to come back the next year and win it all. The Virginia Cavs turned that infamous moment in 2018’s tourney into a prologue for their 2019 championship run.

What Legacy Would Virginia Leave?

It wasn’t easy by any means.

Going into this year’s NCAA Men’s Division I Tournament, the Wahoos again were the #1 seed. Though they eventually pulled out their first round match up against #16 seeded Gardner-Webb, it did come with a bit of a first half scare. And it has to be on the minds of the UVA players.

Then there was the overtime game against Purdue in which a last second shot by Mamadi Diakite forced the extra period in their Elite Eight match-up; withstanding a determined and on-fire Carsen Edwards. UVA would ultimately come out on top 80-75

On to the next round and Virginia needed a little more luck on their side. Their Final Four match-up with Auburn was the most-controversial of all 67  games in the tournament. The Cavs could have easily went home had Auburn not been called for fouling Kyle Guy as he shot a three with the Tigers up by two. Guy would hit all three free throws and Virginia would escape 63-62.

Then last night’s title game was a complete and utter slug fest of a match that again went into overtime. How much of a nervous wreck were you last night? The Interbasket team wasn’t really invested in either team yet we were all on the edge of our seats the last ten minutes of the game and into the extra period.

Actual, real Virginia Cavaliers fans must have frayed nerves today. To say that the Virginia deserved their championship is an understatement. Now that the games are finished, commemorate and celebrate UVA’s championship with navy and orange gear in the form of these NCAA tournament champion t-shirts, long sleeves, caps, socks and hoodie sweatshirts.

With a handful of these items, you can be decked out head-to-toe in Virginia merch. Unless you’re a UConn Lady Husky Women’s basketball fan, it’s not very often your college program wins a national title so UVA fans should take all of it in and remember Virginia basketball’s All-American guard De’Andre Hunter, the slow steady play of Ty Jerome, the tournament Most Outstanding Player Kyle Guy and the roller coaster of a 2019 NCAA championship run that started with UVA’s first round loss in 2018.  What a story.
