Michigan State beats Duke 68-67, here’s the MSU gear to wear for the Final Four

Having unseated the top seeded Duke Blue Devils in their region, the Michigan State led by Cassius Winston’s 20 points, 10 assists, and 4 steals and Tom Izzo, the Spartans are headed to the Final Four.

It’s not often that Duke’s Coach Krzyzewski, who has led the Blue Devils to five National Championships and is already in the Basketball Hall of Fame, is out-coached, but it was clear that the Spartan’s head coach out-maneuvered the legendary coach (not to mention Zion Williamson) in their Elite Eight match-up 68-67.

Now that Spartan fans can breathe a sigh of relief before their next match up, let’s celebrate Sparty’s run with some green and white March Madness gear.

What’s Next for the Spartans

Who knew that coming out of the match up that the talk would shift from the athletic and dominant Williamson to the much less athletic and even less-intimidating Winston. No one expected it, but the speed, pace and poise that the guard played with out-shined Zion.

Winston was all Coach K could talk about after the game. He spoke to how great Michigan State played and the exceptional performance and play making of Winston, referring to the 6-1 play maker out of Detroit as:  “the best guard we’ve played against” and how the Junior guard had  “as good a performance as any player has had against (Duke).”

As a Washington Post headline said today, It took a man to beat these Duke kids. The man was Cassius Winston.

So what’s next for Winston, Kenny Goins, Nick Ward, Matt McQuaid and the rest of the Spartans? They’ll move on to take on #3 seed Texas Tech who’ll look to take out another Michigan tournament team. The Red Raiders manhandled Michigan State’s nemesis, the University of Michigan Wolverines by a score of 63-44 in the Sweet Sixteen several days ago.

In order for State to compete, they’ll have to have another great game controlled by Winston, and they’ll have to contain Jarrett Culver, their 6-5 guard that’s averaging 22.5 points per game in his last five matches, including four games during March Madness.
