Last night was a crazy night that showcased just how combustible and dangerous the Golden State Warriors can be.

The NBA record-setting individual performance of 14 three-pointers from Klay Thompson was the highlight of the evening game vs. the Chicago Bulls, but his 52 points in only 27 minutes was just one of the NBA, team or individual records set last night. Here’s ten records, facts and data points from last night.

  1. Klay’s 50 Trio: Each of Klay Thompson’s three games with 50 or more points have been amazing record-setting performances. When he scored 52 points vs. Kings he scored the most points in one NBA quarter (37). Then on Jan. 23, 2015, he hit for 60 points vs. Pacers in 29 minutes and 11 dribbles. And of course his most recent 52 pointer set the record for most threes made in one game.
  2. NBA record for most 3-pt FGM in a game (player): Klay Thompson-14 three-point field goals made
  3. NBA record for most 3-pt FGA in a game (player): Klay Thompson- 24 three-point field goal attempts
  4. NBA record for most 3-pt FGM in a half (player): 10 three-point field goals- (tie) Thompson and Chandler Parsons
  5. NBA record for most 3-pt FGM: in a half (team): Golden State Warriors- 17 three-point field goals
  6. Golden State Record: Most points in a half- 92 points
  7. Golden State Record: 24 made 3-pointers in the game (second-highest total in NBA history)
  8. 2nd most points scored in 1st half in NBA history (Phoenix Suns 107 pts in 1990)
  9. Career High (player): Alfonzo McKinnie, Golden State Warriors – 19 points
  10. 50 points in fewer than 30 minutes: There’s been only four times when a player has scored 50 or more points in less that 30 minutes since 1954-55: Klay Thompson twice, Damien Lillard and CJ McCollum

Coming into the game, Thompson was really struggling from distance; shooting just 13.8% (5-36) on the season. After the NBA record performance, Thompson’s three-point percentage improved from the 13.8% to 31.7% (19-60)!

“It’s the best feeling,” Thompson said of being in the zone. “Something I haven’t felt in the first six, seven games. To snap out of a slump with the record, I couldn’t ask for a better way to do it. And I’m just going to continue this momentum on Wednesday, and it’s one of the best feelings in basketball when you touch the ball and feel like it’s going in every time.”

“I really believe, I don’t know if I would have been able to break the records I have got in my past, just like tonight, without the system I play in or the team I’m with or the guys I play with,” Thompson said. “Because they knew even before I went out for the second half. Steph looked at the box score and said, ‘Go get it.’ And that just shows you the unselfishness that is within him. Same with KD and Draymond and DJ and everyone else that was out there on the floor trying to find me and get me good looks.”

“I just knew I was due for a big night,” Thompson said. “I just knew it.”

That’s the understatement of the year.
