Puerto Rico’s journey to the 2024 Paris Olympics is led by the dynamic guard duo of Alvarado and Tremont Waters, secured their spot in the Olympics by winning their qualifying tournament, despite being considered underdogs. Alvarado’s recent inclusion has revitalized Puerto Rico’s offense, as the guard not only orchestrates plays but also contributes significantly to their scoring. Alongside Waters, who impressed with averages of 20 points and 9 assists during the FIBA World Cup, this backcourt ensures Puerto Rico remains a threat, even against top-tier competition like the USA and Serbia.

Team Puerto Rico had to win one of the Olympic qualifying tournaments to earn a spot in Paris. They went 2-0 and made it. Puerto Rico is the team having the 10th best (out of 12) odds to win the Gold medal in the 2024 games. They did not win an exhibition game before heading to Paris. They lost to Team Australia 75-90 on 7/19, 93-103 to Canada on 7/21, and 84-107 to Spain in their last three games.
