The 2024 Olympic basketball qualifiers determine the final four teams to earn a spot at the men’s tournament in Paris this summer. The qualifier schedule takes place between July 2nd and 7th, 2024. There are four tournaments being held to determine the teams. They are going down in Latvia, Puerto Rico, Spain, and Greece. The winner of each one earns a spot. Simplicity, and I love it. Who is Playing in the 2024 Olympic Basketball Qualifiers? 

So, there are 24 teams competing for the final four remaining spots in the 2024 Olympic basketball tournament. Each of the tournaments is setup similar to the Olympics. There is a group play round. Then, the top four teams out of this face off in a four team knockout stage to determine a winner. Here are the teams and their associated qualifier assignment according to Olympics.com

• OQT (Latvia): Latvia, Georgia, Philippines, Brazil, Cameroon, and Montenegro
• OQT (Puerto Rico): Puerto Rico, Mexico, Lithuania, Côte d’Ivoire, Italy, and Bahrain
• OQT (Greece): Slovenia, Greece, Croatia, Dominican Republic, New Zealand, and Egypt
• OQT (Spain): Spain, Angola, Lebanon, Poland, Finland, and Bahamas

The group playing in Latvia might be one of the more competitive groups. If we were to bet on favorite at https://br.parimatch.com, we’d go with Brazil Senior Men’s Team. Of course this depends on whether Kristaps Porzinigis will join Latvia after recently winning the NBA Championship with the Boston Celtics.

The winning team of the FIBA Qualifier earns a spot in the 2024 Men’s Olympic basketball tournament with a chance to fight it out for a medal. The Olympic games kick off on July 26th, 2024.

How do the 2024 Olympic Basketball Qualifiers Work? 

So, each of the FIBA Olympic basketball qualifiers have their six teams split up into two groups. Each team plays the others in their respective group. Then, they are seeded based on the results. The top two from each group move on to the single-elimination, knockout phase bracket of four teams. Or, a four-team bracket if you like to think of things that way. The first place from group A (A1) plays the second place from group B (B2), and vice versa. The winners of these games then face off in the finals.
