The 2017 Eurobasket tournament will take place between August 31st and September 17th, 2017. This will be the 40th Eurobasket Championship played and is organized by FIBA.

And a big change is coming for the tournament — starting with the 2017 tournament, similar to the Olympics, the championship will now be played every four years instead of every other year. That’s a huge shift and adds so much more weight, pressure and excitement to the event.

The tournament will be hosted by four countries to include: Turkey, Finland, Romania, and Israel. The knockout stage will be held at the Sinan Erdem Dome in Istanbul Turkey with the championship match scheduled to take place on September 17th, 2017.

After the decision to relocate the 2015 EuroBasket tournament, Ukraine was originally offered the chance to host the tournament, but declined based on ongoing instability in the country.
