2016 NBA Mock Draft

Brandon Ingram or Ben Simmons in 2016 NBA draft?

The 2016 NBA Draft is set to take place on June 23rd, 2016. Similar to past drafts, the 2016 NBA Draft will be shown live on ESPN, and the consensus seems to be coming down to two players — Brandon Ingram or Ben Simmons.

We’re all waiting to see if the Philadelphia 76ers will continue to lean towards selectingdo-it-all small forward Ben Simmons from LSU with the overall #1 pick in the draft or if another player like Duke’s lanky, Kevin-Durant-ish Brandon Ingram will rise up to be selected as the top pick.

There are still a number of trades that are expected to happen before Draft Day, so stay tuned for potential major shakeups with the 2016 NBA Draft Order. We will also see the draft pool of players stabilize as we proceed past the NCAA’s deadline for college basketball players to remove their name from consideration in the draft this week.

Interbasket has published our mock draft for the first round for you to review, and please leave comments where you differ with our opinion on the draft – we’d love to hear them.

Who will the Philadelphia 76ers take with the #1 Pick?

The consensus on who the overall #1 pick of the NBA Draft only got stronger when the Philadelphia 76ers won the 2016 edition of “Tankathon” and got the #1 pick. The team is going through the paces and saying that they will try out a number of players they are considering for the top pick, but so far, if there is no trade involved, most NBA Mock Drafts have the 76ers going with the safe play with picking Simmons and using their tryouts to get a good feel .

What will Boston do with the Overall #3 Pick?

For all of the discussion about who Philly will take with the overall #1 pick, there is equally as much if not more talk going on about what Boston is going to do with the overall #3 pick.

The latest NBA rumors have it that Boston is that they are shopping the pick to Philly for center, Jahil Okafor. While Okafor had very strong rookie campaign for the 76ers, Philly has the problem of drafting too many big men and not enough wing talent to compete in today’s NBA.

Okafor is seen as someone who could complement the Celtics strong core alongside a potential major free agency signing by the team this off-season. Boston also has the overall #16 and 23 picks in this year’s draft, so they could look at a much bigger deal depending on what team management’s goals are for improvement this off-season.
