The third match of day two will see Israel vs. Italy (Watch Now)

Not even the Israelis were expecting to advance this performance, but here they are.

Omri Caaspi, Lior Eliyahu and gang will have their work cut out with them as they face a high-powered Italian squad that is second in team scoring.

The “Azzurri” team is led by Danilo Gallinari who leads the team in scoring and rebounding, followed by Allesandro Gentile, Marco Belinelli and Andrea Bargnani. All four are putting the ball in the hoop from all over the court.

Unless Italy has a tough time from the field, look for the Italians to move onto the next phase.

In the fourth game of the Round of 16, we’ll see Lithuania take on the Republic of Georgia.

Domantas Sabonis attacks the hoop during Eurobasket 2015The Republic of Georgia, anchored by big man Zaza Pachulia didn’t look so hot after their first three games, but that’s why you keep playing. Team Georgia won their final two games and are rolling into their match with Lithuania with some confidence and their heads held high.

Lithuania didn’t impress very many in the first round. Their play inspired more questions than answers. If tradition means anything, then we all know Lithuania comes to play when the stakes get higher. It should make for an interesting game — will Lithuania be able to up their level? Were Georgia’s wins a fluke or can they build on it enough to take down Lietuva?

Whoever wins this match will move forward into the Eurobasket quarterfinals and their hopes for a bid to the 2016 Olympics are still alive. Whoever loses the match will not get a chance at a berth to the Olympics in Brazil, nor will they be able to compete in next summer’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
