DeAndre Jordan’s Thunderous Jam on Brandon Knight Fires Up Clippers (VIDEO)

DeAndre Jordan’s monster slam dunk over the top of Brandon Knight almost blew the roof off the Staples Center and had his Clippers whooping and hollering on their way to a 129-97 win over the Detroit Pistons.

Some are already calling it the dunk of the year. You better check it out for yourself.

The play came early in the game during a 28-12 Clippers run when Chris Paul lobbed the ball up for Jordan. He caught it several feet from the basket and even had a defender – poor Mr. Knight trying to block the attempt, in his way. That didn’t stop the 6-11 Jordan crushing the rim and wowing everyone in the building.

The momentum of DeAndre Jordan’s 265 lb frame flying at the hoop knocked Knight, who is 75 pounds lighter and 8 inches shorter, off balance and crashing onto the ground.

The authoritative dunk amazed Black Griffin, a former slam dunk champion, “That was the best dunk of the year and the best I’ve seen in person,” said Blake Griffin, according to ESPN.com.

“Usually I get that dunk and nobody is right there,” Jordan said. “This is the first time somebody tried to block it.”

The dunk certainly sparked the team – which may not have needed any more fuel anyway –  on to one of its best offensive performances of the year. The Clippers shot 62.5 percent from the field and 50 percent from three-point range on the night.

And most of all, it got people buzzing, and tweeting. It wasn’t long after Jordan shook the building that he and his handy work became a trending topic on Twitter.

“That’s cool,” he said. “Hopefully I can get my followers up.”

We’ll see if L.A.’s powerful momentum carries over to Wednesday’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
