Check out the New York Knicks’ new Nike Statement Edition jerseys for 2019-20

The New York Knicks officially revealed their new Statement Edition jerseys from Nike.

“Blue is our statement – we’re not here to ball, we’re here to battle.” said the corny Knicks’ press release. “While our core colors remain, our updated style reflects the team of today. These sleek, modern lines flow through the jersey – a nod to our evolving city – while staying true to the classic look of past Knicks uniforms.”

Inspired by “the hustle and strength of the city and team,” the team officially unveiled them after images of the new uniforms were leaked online. The new jerseys certainly do make a stronger statement with bolder shade of the Knicks blue along with white lettering and numbers and white and orange trim bordering the uniform all around.

Here’s what the release said about the Knicks’ iconic wordmark: “hightlighted an electric orange stroke reinforces that we’re the only team with New York across our chests”

For many teams’ third uniforms, the Statement Edition jerseys changes with each season. With an ever evolving new design for the franchise, it gives the organization a chance to test out new designs, colors and styles every season. A new jersey every season or so also gives an opportunity for fans to purchase the uniforms. as a souvenir or collectible.

Knicks’ Statement Lacks Confidence

The new uniforms are really dope, but the press release that came along with the unveiling also seems as if the Knicks feel a bit threatened by their neighbors, the Brooklyn Nets – the former New Jersey team where NJ Sports Betting sites are now legal and the home to superstars Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.

The team tweeted out several images of Knicks players in the new uniforms including RJ Barrett, Mitchell Robinson, Julius Randle, Dennis Smith Jr., Kevin Knox, and Bobby Portis in the standard mean-mugging photo shoots we’ve come to expect at the introduction of the season.

Unlike other teams in the league whom only wear the Statement designs for a handful of games, the Knicks are committing to the new uniforms by wearing the Statement Edition jerseys against all Western Conference teams, starting with opening night of 2019-20 season when they take on the Spurs in San Antonio on Wednesday, October 23.

The team will show off the jerseys for the first time at Madison Square Garden on November 3 vs. the Sacramento Kings. These are the team’s third set of uniforms and are now available at Fanatics, NBA Store and the MSG Team Store.
