It seems that DGP wants this years EL more than anything in the world.
If we sign Papagiannis we really don't have to be envious of either CSKA, Real and Fener rosters. Covered in every position and plenty of depth.
I was thinking that signing James and Payne latter than sooner was a strategy to save 2-3 months worth of their salaries.
too much competition can be a problem too. Pascual will have full hands in next months. Yes Pao looks good. I personally don’t like James, because it’s highly unlikely he will be satisfied as Calathes’s backup and they can’t play together. He’s great for last minutes of the games, where Calathes is more or less useless. If Pascual can solve this problem, Pao looks like very serious title contender.

I don't think this is a problem. I think MJ will be used more when we decide isolate James who is a slasher and can either finish, get a foul or seek the free man when double teamed. Leka will lose minutes and so will Denmon and Rivers will move to play as a SF only because he was getting minutes at SG this year. With Denmon, Pappas inconsistant and Lojeski out for an unknown time we definately needed MJ to boost our chances for a Top 4 finish. Pappas has stepped up this year but not where near the consistancy we need and want. He blows hot and cold.

I agree with you, but on the other hand I have seen what happened to Calathes, when James took the ball out off his hands last year. Calathes is totally useless off ball and he needs big self esteem to have even % he has this year. It maybe looks strange, but his best games were, when he played 30+ minutes. He’s a guy who need big utilization or he most likely sucks. If Pascual can find coexistence between this two, Pao will be in very good condition.

things got a lot more interesting now.
as for Papagiannis, do you think he'll have a significant impact this year? I only remember him from his u16/u18 days, not sure how he developed afterwards.

He didn't, both he and Charalampopoulos are nowhere near where they should be.

With the Missas and Skourtopoulos duo, even Giannis Antetokounbo would be rubbish. Papagiannis 2.16 frame would help us look at Vesely, Ayon, Tavares in the eyes. He'd be good for 10 mins.
Papagiannis closed well in the 2015-2016 despite PAO losing the title and his performances against Hunter and Miloutinov in the play offs helped him take a high draft pick. He's definately still raw and work in progress but he's agile for his height is great timer for blocking.

He used to be those things, in the eurobasket he could barely move -that wasn't due to poor tactical coaching- and from what I've seen Kings fans were really disappointed in him.

IMO he was in too much of a hurry to join the NBA. He should have waited another minimum 2-3 seasons. Be one of the best players (not talents) in Europe first and then go across the pond. Panathinaikos was desparate to hold onto him and offered him around 750.000 euros from 100.000 he was on the previous year. He said his decision had nothing to do with money, but ambition.
I think he showed big balls scoring 9 points in the SEF cauldron at 19 in the 3rd play off game. Better players fade there.

I think that the fact that he was waived (as a 13th pick and extended to a 3rd year already) shows a problem. I can't believe that the team would let him go for nothing.
I think that something happened with somebody in the Sacramento Kings (irrelevant to us) or he showed very poor work ethic (relevant to us). I hope he gets back on his feet because he is a great prospect for greek basketball.
