To becomes Asia's Best, we need to compete against the World's Best..

sabagay, sbl is just semi-pro league like mpbl, pbl or d-league here. when did it fold up? they still held 2018-19 season with final game last may 9.

its not actually folded but still the league is in shambles right now. not actually surprised since the league is struggling for quite sometime now. many factors there like they are failing on attracting fans resulting to low gate attendance. also, due to its status as semi-professional league, it cannot give that high of a salary which results to cba getting the best of taiwanese players resulting to the fans losing interest to the league. another factor i see is the dismal performances of taiwan in international competitions. except 2013, for the past 14 years, taiwan placed outside the semis. worse, placing outside the top 8. add to that, they already have their quincy davis but still getting badly by other asian teams.

Most of taiwanese top players are playing in CBA.

                • since SBL has folded, maybe TPE can field two teams in ABL? they can rebrand ABL to Asian Basketball League.

actually makes sense to call it Asia ( not just Asean)

Hard to say, but in those close loses to Argentina & New Zealand, I think Nonoy's presence would have reversed the outcomes.

                            • ^^Probably the fastest, quickest player of the tournament. He's definitely quicker and perhaps more skilled than that Mali point guard (who happened to be the same height) that made it to mythical 5. Been rooting for his inclusion because that tournament I feel was the best chance he'd outperform his contemporaries as he is already a fully developed young man physique-wise.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JIKvPVa8MVU Check the speed at the 2 minute mark. Reminds me of Remy Martin. Definitely not your ordinary quick guard.

They join the CBA straight from university. The small local TPE league get the "leftovers" for lack of a better word.

Gu Mao, one of their young stars played for the TPE select team in the 5v5 tournament UST was in. He also played in the finals against UP in the Blia Cup. That same Taiwanese college team just beat ABL's Macau Black Bears a couple of days ago.

If anything, UAAP teams are quite strong compared to their CHN & TPE counterparts.
