What is the update in regards with this?

If my French has not been shot to obilivion, I reckon the article mentioned that Senegal could be replaced by Ivory Coast in the World Cup if certain things are not ironed out?

                    EDIT:

Senegal is racing against time to raise that amount and has appealed to the government.

What a travesty if Senegal is unable to participate in the World Cup due to financial problems. Any world championship in any sport should feature the best teams from every region, and Senegal definitely proved last summer they're among Africa's elite teams. If they're unable to go, then either the Ivory Coast or Nigeria should receive strong consideration for replacing them.

I agree. Senegal earned their berth despite their implied anomaly in the article. If somehow Senegal happens to participate and Nigeria is awarded a wildcard, good exposure for Africa's teams.

From the news, Senegal has only until midnight this Sunday to pay the fine in principle or they will miss the world cup altogether.

Considering the fact that the officials in charge of the Senegalese Basketball Federation have complied with past disciplinary sanctions imposed by FIBA and have agreed to a clear road map for the complete re-organisation of the national federation, FIBA's Central Board has accepted to lift the ban imposed on the Senegalese national team and allow it to take part the FIBA Basketball World Cup.
