Common sense will tell you that Kai spending about one month of training with Gilas is better than Kai spending just 10 days of training with Gilas. No need to ask coach Tab or anyone from SBP about that.

Is it similar to Kai saying he's still 100% committed? Who's creating the rift? Is there even a rift?

You do know we our team always performs bad when we don't have enough prep time. People are always clamoring for more prep time and now they can have it with our cadet setup. But you'd rather just have Kai practice with them for a week or so then blame the team when he doesn't get many minutes or plays bad. Don't forget that he hasn't played in a real game for more than 1 year. That's just asking for trouble

        • The socmed handlers of Kai should really back down a little bit on posting ang hyping things in social media. I just creates a lot of speculation and confusion among people as well as immense pressure for the kid

The same could not be said about Kai who hasn't really trained with Gilas for a considerable amount of time.

Kai joining the team about 10 days prior to the 3rd window won't trigger much whining in the Phi basketball community if Kai had already spent about a month of training with Gilas before.

                Simple as that bro.
this. prosper has played for toroman for 2 years already. he knows the system even with his eyes closed. they even had a training camp during the indonesian lockdown at bandung for months just to grasp the system. kai has not played competitively for like years already and is not familiar with tab's system or at least what tab is trying to implement.

Kai's training with Remy Martin is miles ahead than Kai training with Gilas. The personal gain for Kai cannot be replicated by any training offered by anyone from gilas. Remy is a well respected and accomplished NBA player trainer.

In terms of gilas as a team, it is better for the team but as for Kai as a player nothing compares training with martin.

Kai's world doesnt just revolve with gilas. He has bigger things to deal with than any phil player. Pba players arent even available most of the time even if their just with the PBA.

So EWP and Kai taking all the heat since February till now a good thing? Kai has officially ended his training but was very unsure about playing. His insta post doesnt indicate that he will be back. Too much for the 30days demand for Tab.

Kai's world doesnt just revolve with Gilas. That will be the reality moving forward. Why cant all of gilas just deal with Kai on the background and stop doing unnecessary press releases? Does that even help? It just put Kai and his team in a bad light.

Well who else is supposed to take the heat? Were they forced to come home last February? If the rumors are true they even made some coin for doing nothing. I thought you never liked Ignite and Brian Shaw anyway? At some point he and his handlers has to take responsibility for his choices. 30 days is fine IMO. Anything less and his performance and playing time might suffer. You'd want him to be at his best at these games even if it's just against Indonesia. He could just beg off if he doesn't feel like giving his 100% or has other plans IMO

Agree and GILAS shouldn't just revolve around Kai. That's why they should have a backup just in case Kai isn't available. Those conditions aren't unreasonable. If anything they already made some exceptions for him nga. But obviously less than weeks of practice won't be enough.

sbp were caught off guard with ewp’s move last february..

funny it’s okay to pull out kai in the middle of preparation for ignite that cause kai’s spot with the team, but it’s not okay to pull out kai with no tournaments to play and content of just playing..

apply what you learn by playing competitive games not scrimmages where theirs Zero defense..

                        • Bottomline is, Kai needs actual games to display what he has learned from training

There's no argument the kind of training that Kai has been getting since going to the US is essential for his development as a player. And Kai has been training under the most brilliant trainers & coaches a young basketball cager can avail at this stage of his career, but as other posters here have pointed out, Kai hasn't played an actual tournament game for quite some time now. Perhaps more than a year na. All he has been doing for the last one year or so were training & some scrimmages & pick-up or tune-up games with pros & college players in the US. Maboboro ang player pag puro training & practices lang ang gagawin nya.

Bottomline is, Kai needs actual tournament games. Hindi puro training lang. You can be trained by the finest NBA coaches & trainers out there but without actual tournament games, the effectiveness of that training won't be fully utilized. You need actual tournament games to apply what you've learned & absorbed in training.

as what was said. balance, as it should be. kai can only have individual trainings for so long but with no competitive games to use it with then its no use to be honest. we have to know his individual training's purpose is to prepare him for competitive games. but without competitive games then its all for nothing. he has been away for so long in competitive games. i dont think he will make it to the gilas games. good thing koaume naturalization came in time at least we have a big man who is available all the time. i actually want kai to make it to the gilas lineup. i really wanna know who is better, kouame who trained locally with tab, or kai who trained in the US. as of now my money is on kouame, since he already know tab's system. if ever kai makes it to the gilas lineup, im pretty sure coaching staff will favor kouame in the lineup due to familiarity and surely kai fanboys will be up in arms with that.

                            • I dont think there is pressure on Kai's camp to play bball. He has a full year ahead to play and he is guaranteed to play for 30plus games with NBL.

This is the time for Tab and SBP to blabber their mouths.lol I want them to say that they will accept Kai even if he is late. No parent would allow their son to travel thousand of miles in a very risky time just to not be guaranteed a slot in the final 12. So much for Tab demanding for a month and not guaranteeing Kai's slot if he would be late. Kai is current gilas best player. He didnt deliberately miss gilas practice. It is just that he has other IMPORTANT COMMITMENTS.

                              • I always want Kai to play for Gilas as long as it is not affecting his NBA dream. I just hate how SBP personnels are after their personal interest over the greater good of Kai's career. I hope he will play this window and for SBP to exclusively deal with Kai discreetly. He could make it in time but with lesser practice.
