NBDL going into its 2nd season is slowly shaping up as the best grassroot commercial league even over than MPBL... NBDL has been well managed and well thought and it is an honest to goodness Grassroots league as it only have players from that locality(Only players from QC can play for Quezon City tram for example)and gives opportunity to young players(18-29 year old only) with no prior Professional experience... MPBL is so politicize, more of a league to cater to politicians ro serve as a vehicle political adverticement and additional political mileage for them..

NBDL is even opening a Women NBDL league plus Youth league also(Under 17 and U12 Tourney)and may form an AllStar team to play at PBA DLeague to market also their top stars plus Paranaque team which won the inagaural tourney will play in Vietnam Professional league as their reward as the NBDL champion... Mukhang magaling ang Commisioner for thinking out of the box..

i always dreaming of a philippine ball club to play at vietnam basketball league. wow, now it will happen. my suggestion would be enlist one foreign reinforcement (africans in uaap will do) because all VBA teams have one import in their respective teams.

as for MPBL, it is obvious political vehicle from appearances of those politicians regularly every game (they are irrelevant to the league since they have nothing to do with basketball). listen to the MPBL song - the lyrics are super irrelevant to the game of basketball (more like a campaign jingle e.g. really the word "drugs" in the lyrics of the song for basketball? jesus christ).

What's the salary range for players?
Can a foreign-born Filipino who's parents are both from Quezon City play for QC?

Dont know about the salary range, will do a research on it. I think purely homegrown, thats what NBDL cater. There is the D League or MPBL for our Filfor brothers to show their wares..

So the hierarchy in Phil Basketball , NBDL sort of a feeder to MPBL, MPBL to DLeague and DLeague to PBA...

So it seems, if you are a constant in recreation leagues, you can up your game in the nbdl.
Then if you think you've done enough, you can try out for mpbl, and if you fare enough, UNTV can be a good next venue.
After which d-league, then pba.
Good route for those U17 who didn't have any exposure in the varsity scene

Sort of worked that way bro, which is good in a sense that each league sort of cater to different clientelle, so their is no competition berween leagues but more of convergence...NBDL is more for up and coming players from smaller leagues, DLeague for College players from UAAP, NCAA and Manila Schools and Filfor, MPBL for undrafted from PBA , Dleaguers who did not make it to PBA and those who did not last in the PBA...

I know someone, a second stringer of an NBL team, earning around 15-20k per month. He can still play in any ligang labas game at the same time can still work for a day job. As long as he can still practice with the team and ready during games, it's okay with the team. Not bad for someone who didn't earn a college diploma. #ballislife

Even in MPBL, some players like those from Quezon City team, most of their players got Day job also. IN MPBL, team play only once every 2 weeks, so the practice might not be daily..

This is great. A lot of talented players, not to mention diamonds in the rough are outside of our main leagues due to lack of exposure. This gives them another avenue to showcase their talent.

The real Pampanga team will be playing also in NBDL.. Delta Pampanga is a team of Delta Pineda , the Vice Gov of Pampanga, and will be comprise of players from Delta Basketball Camp and Stable... That team in MPBL is just a pretender, a team formed and owned by Dong Gonzales, who is really NOT a basketball man, uts more of a political stunt to promote his political aspiration.. Delta is really a basketball guy, produce the likes of Arwind Santos, Calvin Abueva, Ian Sangalang and Pascual, plus young guys like Jay Pangalanan and Balte Baltazar.. Excited for this team...
