If Nigeria can qualify, then we can lure more players to the team like Festus Ezeli, Kelenna Azubuike and Ben Uzoh.....I really hope we can do it....good luck to Greece in the future, you guys are very good fundamentally and I love the way youmove without the ball, Nigeria needs that type of coaching....
There is no need for Uzoh who sucked in FIBA competition and who declines repeatidly to play for D'Tigers.
I dont see Ezeli in this team too. Who would you replace? Aminu brothers are more experienced and Diogu is scoring like heck - No need for a rookie when it comes to men's hoops.
Azubuike is British and injured since 100 years.
Aladi...never blossomed in the NBA, played only a few games in total.

I would add Michael Umeh as a PG. Akognon maybe if Umeh doesnt wanna play.
Oruche is the one that needs to be replaced. Thats it.

Agreed on all counts (except for the addition of Akognon) but I think that very experienced and classy big men Uche Nsonwu-Amadi and Akinlolu Akingbala wouldn't hurt this team instead of some from mostly disappointing Ibekwe-Oyedeji-Ugboaja-Archibong quartet. Yet I don't know the real reason of their absence in the squad and if they didn't want to play for their NT in qualies they shouldn't be invited to the team when it made it to the Olympics.

I think Mojado is right. Umeh has played again for Nigerian NT and he has experience from international competitions.
Umeh instead Oruche and Nigeria is just fine. More additions would probably damage team's chemistry.

Also, it would be unfair for the players who achieved the qualification, not to be part of the Olympic Team.
Akingbala didn't show up earlier in the summer despite the fact that he was called.
Ibekwe-Oyedeji-Ugboaja-Archibong were all part of the team since the beginning of the preparation in China.
It's unfair to leave these guys out of the Olympics and called someone who declined to participate in the training camp.

Nsonwu-Amadi never represented Nigeria internationally. Dont know why.
Akingbala did not reply to requests to tell why he is not playing this time. He would be a good add, but maybe he has his reasons.

The players that didnt played (Uzoh,Alabi,Akindele,Ezeli) are all with one agent. Enough said.

              • I feel like Nigeria needs a 7 footer in the tournament, the tallest player we have is 6'10 and thats Alade Aminu, we need one of either Alabi, Ezeli or Michael Eric for their height. I have no problems with your pg suggestions.

                      • Interview With Nigerian Star Ade Dagunduro

Dude was one of the standout players in the Olympic tournament, he played ball at the University of Nebraska and I think he is playing in Belgium currently, read the full interview here, he talks about his faith and his Nigerian up bringing.

Thats a bit too optimistic. With a bit of luck, fourth place or fifth place are possible.
You didnt watch a lot of games of Argentina and France in the past years...they do have the edge over Nigeria at the moment.
Lithuania did not play up to 100% against Nigeria because they simply had not to. Tunisia is not only Mejri...how many games did you watch from last year's Afrobasket? Be honest.

                          • Argetina are very good, but there better players have aged. I know France have not really played well without Tony Parker, and I did not see a lot of Afro Basket games, I know Tunisia have another guy who is 6'6 I think he is the captain, he is also very good.

                              • Josh Akognon is tearing it up in the NBA summer league, averaging 20ppg in 20mpg, did he refuse the Nigerian NT or did they never contact him? I know he's a one-dimensional ballhog, but he can be instant offense off the bench, and when he's on, unstoppable.
