  • The costs of Your city's public transport?

I said "city's" in the title, because in Lithuania prices depends on that. I live in Vilnius and here are the highest prices.
In Vilnius prices are separated: you can buy a ticket for a bus, and you can buy a ticket which is valid for a bus and for a troley. also you can buy a ticket which you can use only once and one which you can use all the month.

    So the prices are:

for pupils and students (who're studying at day time):
one-time-use ticket for bus or troley ~0.16 euro
monthly ticket for bus or troley ~2.30 euros
monthly ticket for bus and troley ~3.43 euros

for people who are 70 y/o or over:
one-time-use ticket for bus or troley ~0.16 euro
monthly ticket for bus or troley ~5.71 euros
monthly ticket for bus and troley ~8.57 euros

    for others:
one-time-use ticket for bus or troley ~0.31 euro
monthly ticket for bus or troley ~11.43 euros
monthly ticket for bus and troley ~17.14 euros

Also there are some exeptions for invalids or people over 85 y/o or war veterans etc. And if you buy a ticket in a bus or troley, it will be a litle bit more expensive.

Oh... and almost forgot, we have some crazy small buses, which are driving without any rules, you can stop them anywhere and so on, but damn, they will bring you very fast to the place you need and the ticket is about 0.67 euros.

Please be free to discuss in this thread not only about prices. All interesting facts about public transport in your city are warmly welcomed

Prices in Portugal are real high imo.

    Bus ticket 1.20€
    Underground 0.70€
Suburban train (Lisbon and outskirts) 1.05€

Don't know exactly how much monthly tickets cost, but you get the picture. I used to buy a monthly ticket for bus+underground+suburban train and it was almost 40€.
Oh and no discounts whatsoever as far as I know.

            minimum about 170 euros
            average about 400 euros

and for example, when I was studying in oPorto, I was getting 500 euros scholarship per month from our goverment. The statistics about wages in Lithuania are not realy corect, because a lot of firms pay so called "black money" to avoid taxes from goverment

The prices are city-dependent in Turkey, too.

in Ankara, there are 4 main types of public transport.

              1. Municipality-operated (Buses & Subway)
              2. Privately operated (Buses, double-decker busses, etc.)
              3. Those crazily-driven little busses ("dolmus") you mentioned above, adebisi
              4. Local trains operated by a governmental railway institution.

The prices of the first two are the same, €0.4 (for students) and €0.6 (for adults). However, the municipality means are more advantageous because you can use up to 3 vehicles (bus or subway) with only one ticket. Besides, it gets cheaper if you buy cards with 20 tickets or more. The older people can use them freely between 10:00 and 16:00 hours.

The "dolmus" prices are also €0.6 but it can get higher up to €0.75 for longer distances, and there's no student discount. I guess they're just like the ones
              in Lithuania.

The local trains are used very frequently by some people, but I used it a few times. I don't know their prices. They're old trains and not on my route.

              - The official minimum wage in Turkey is about €200 net and €280 brut (380TL, 531TL), but I don't know the average.

Edit: I added a picture of those "dolmus"s. They're in blue color in Ankara.

Here in Ajax the bus is $2.00 cnd with really bad service. The bus comes once an hour. In Toronto its $2.75 for adult and $1.85 for student, the price is the same for the subway.

Berlin: normal prize 2,10€ and u can use all 3 transportation systems (subway, bus, tram) for 2 hours. U can also buy a ticket for less than 3 stops with the subway or 6 with the bus or tram for 1,20€. Daily ticket 5,80€, weekly about 25€ and monthly about 60€
For students the transportation is free cause they pay a high tuition to the university.
It is expensive but the network is very extended and u can go practically everywhere.
