Mozambique had in the recent years two talented kids in the US.Cornelio Guibunda (American Univ.) and Sam Manhanga (Brown Univ.) played college ball as well as little known Mauro Matai (Abilene Christian) who even played pro ball in Mexico.

Please keep us posted. I absolutely love to follow these "smaller" leagues. Rik, do you think you could tell me a basic overview of basketball in Mozambique? What is the league like? The national team? Any players overseas?

I can't tell much This league is being very much talked about because it's a very serious effort to bring Mozambican basketball back to the top. I'll keep posting stuff

How does Ferroviário Maputo score 103 points in a win on one day and then score only 63 points against Costa do Sol, a team that scored only 56 points their first game? Is anybody else thinking maybe the Mozambique league is something like the NBA from the '90s? Defensive teams dominating the game? Could be.

The team that scored 103 was Ferroviário Beira But Ferroviário Maputo is having a real bad start, they are the current champions and they lost the first two games.

Whoops! So, after the third game day, it looks like there are a lot of lopsided games. No doubt the teams are still trying to find their identities. How many games are they playing?

Wow!! That's fantastic!! That's really impressive. They must play three or four times a week. Most of these domestic pro-am leagues play so few games, so it's wonderful for fans to get so many.

Good to see some pictures! I like Deportivo's uniforms. Postponements are, unfortunately, the sign of either an unorganized league or a league losing money.
