I don't buy this--I understand performing well in a game or two--but I was rating it based on their overall averaged performance so I used a decent bit of stats too in my evaluation. There's no doubt Rubio was a good pick pocket and also a suprisingly solid rebounder, but at pg he had an assist/to ratio of 1.5--which isn't that great.

More importantly, he shot 17% from three and less than 30% from the field overall . Certainly one can say his role is not one of a scorer..but those numbers are unacceptable for somebody who's supposed to be top 10 or who supposedly had a good tournament in my opinion.

As for Fotsis...he was an efficient scorer from 2 and 3..hit the boards hard and played solid defense. Spanoulis was a good scorer (though somewhat underwhelming from 3) but wasn't as good all around in my view.

I should have added Prigioni to HM's..in fact, I think I'd have him rather than Mills as my starting pg.

Nobody has mentioned Holden yet!? Come on, he was great. He was fantastic. And how about some love for Brad Newley? Great player there.

      2. Yao Ming
      3. Pau Gasol

      7. Hamed Ehadadi
      8. Brad Newley
      9. Kobe Bryant
      10. Carlos Delfino

      Matt's Subjective Mythic Team

        (In random order)

        Wade
        Jasikevicius
        P. Gasol
        GInobilli
        Kobe
        LeBron
        Paul
        Fernandez
Rubio - considering his young age
Spanoulis - considering he was the only Greek who wasn't afraid to grab a hot ball

        Biggest disappointments:
Yao - was let down by his teammates, although he seemed to struggle himself
Papaloukas - average decision-making; poor offensively
        Nowitzki - same case with Yao;

        MVP: Wade
LVP (Least Valuable Player): (too)-Big Sofo

        Best coach: Coach K
        Worst coach: Blatt

          8. Emanuel Ginobili

          Biggest surprise:
          Croatia NT
Argentina (I expected less from their limited roster, also didn't expect them to win against Lithuania in last game without Ginobili)

          MVP: Dwayne Wade
          LVP: Big Sofo

          Best coach: Coach K

edit: Here's a humorous article from John Hollinger reviewing the performances of "international"(this is from an American perspective) NBA players at the Olympics. It's a good read and it's pretty funny.

I thought by now everybody here knew that lists generaly sucks.

you can't evaluate an effect of one random player on court at a time and than compare it with another player in another team and game, surrounded with different players...
...it's like Duncan vs. Garnett debates for god's sake...

Guys and guys, why aren't you listing JR Holden!? OK, I understand that his team did not play very well, but come on, he was great. He was a statistics machine and Russia's best player. I know we're all upset about Georgia, but you've got to give this guy credit.

17.6 points per game (4th), 49% shooting, 4.8 assists (second), 1.4 steals, 3 turnovers (OK, that's bad, but it's less than Jasikevicius, same as Nowitzki)
