In another preseason game in the afternoon, SBU storms back from a big deficit to edge out Lyceum. AJ Royo and Jomel Puno trooped to their second game in the afternoon. Puno was impressive and had an all around game again. Payosing and Jopia suited up for the game.

Lyceum will have a retooled team with impressive showings from stretch big Omandac and ex Letran guard CJ Saure.

    • Jomel Puno is as good as advertised. Hopefully he'll be considered as a local soon. Arguably has a higher ceiling than Calvin Oftana.

      • Jomel Puno looks legit. I think he's a natural 2/3. Can't wait to see the Puno-Hawkins-Sanchez combination.

That lineup is taller than most NCAA combinations at 2-3-4, but more mobile and more versatile. Hope they add toughness, because you still need it, but not at the expense of that mobility and versatility.

If Beda do use that combination, I hope they succeed with it, how an ideal All-Filipino small ball combination should look like at 2-3-4 in terms of height and skillset.

          • Jomel looks legit. Seems to be best suited as a 4 tho but regardless, he's very promising and eligible for 5 years.

Isn't mapua losing some key guys?

Then San Beda should take care of this Puno guy. La Salle may be lurking to pirate other schools talents again.

                • Mapua B defeated Ateneo and UE B consecutively this weekend. Despite having only 10 players, Coach Nani's free style coaching seems to click with these young Cards, shooting 3s from everywhere they managed to lead both opponents by as much as 20 pts..its like season 97 mapua style of play

                  Team B
Caballero, Escamis, Sabsalon, Dalisay, Asuncion, Parial, Recto, Fermin

                  Holdovers
Bonifacio, Soriano, Mercado, Nocum, Hernandez, Garcia, Agustin, Cuenco, Parinas, Igliane

Found out that boyet's contract is long termAnyways been told that a group is pushing changes within management. A lawyer/friend is currently reviewing all contracts.
That's ok as long as he can help or maybe even lead San Beda to another title. UAAP teams, specially La Salle, just makes the NCAA look worse by poaching the good players. I could just imagine how demoralized San Beda would have been if the reported Oftana and Kwekuteye transfer to DLSU pushed thru. Terrible look. Especially disappointed in Oftana had it happened.

San Beda has always took care of his players even after their playing years. Players were given opportunities outside basketball. If a player wishes to transfer, San Beda will support their decision.

San Beda program is not about the players, its the system. That's why some are pushing for re evaluating the team management.

Puno has to have played for Gilas as a local for him to be able to go to the B.League, and he has to have both parents as Filipino citizens and passport-holders, and have a Philippine passport himself, to play in the KBL.

And there is the risk of the players not developing due to not getting enough playing time when you have too many good players. Not just in La Salle, I'm seeing it in UP also (hence why RC Calimag transferred).

No he is not, since he was placed in reserve list in favor of Gab Gamboa at the start of season 98, he never reported back to mapua and went to his hometown.

How about Resty Fornis? He will surely add size to your frontline.
