Yes, Basketball is currently 2nd most popular sport, But their WC is not the 2nd most watch World cup event... It's either Cricket WC or Rugby WC... If the sport basketball itself wants solidifies themselves as 2nd most popular sport in the world, The Most prestigious basketball event, the FIBA WC, should break all viewership records, online appearance, Gate attendance, etc..... I tell you, If they did this, then Basketball will be solid 2nd placer as most popular sport and main rival for soccer/football popularity in the future.... SBP, JBA and PERBASI will have a key role to solidify the status of basketball sport as strong holder of 2nd most popular sport next year...
Wathcing FIFA rn.. no matter who's hosting, or even if beers are not allowed to be served in stadium, fans from around the world, actually spend money and time to travel and support their country. and travel from one host city to the next, neverminding where they sleep. There was a whole section of Ecuadorian fans in the stadium yesterday, and if werent for them, that stadium is dead. (Qataris fans looked manufactured, sorry)

Will FIBA WC next year be the same? Will we see ultras and hardcore fans from around the world? I hope the Brazilians and Argentines come to add spice and deliver a different stadium experience. wink wink

and those eastern europeans fans with those intimidating chants and growls to drown the high pitch shrieks and "ayeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" we are all accustomed to.

At least we can reasonably watch the WC games from this side of the globe. Latest games are 11pm, thank goodness.

I'm interested to see how Argentina will play this WC. Messi's still there, of course, but their defense has gotten stronger from their Copa America win. Wanna see how it holds. Argentina got to their last final by playing defensively and relying on Messi.

God, if a letter has diacritics like the tilde and accents, the system inputs a question mark.

    Seis a Dos, Inglatera

They celebrate all goals here. Even when the game ( oops sorry the "match") was essentially over in injury time

Another Asian team lose as Iran was demolished by England 6-2.... Even in football, Asians are inferior than European and Latino teams....

Well, at least no sane mind can boast that AUS is 2x better than the traditional Asian powers (KOR and JPN, and KSA and Iran included) in this WC

Saudi playing ultra-defensive against Argentina. High defensive line, aggressive pressing, and some parking the bus. Luckily, Argentina won a penalty, which Messi converted.

And Argentina's playing it way too safe so far. Defensively OK, offensively conservative.

Korea Beat Italy in 2002 in the QF. Became the first Asian team to reach the Final 4. Goal scorer Ahn Jung-Hwan who had a contract that time with Italian Serie A side Perugia , became Italy's Public Enemy No. 1. His contract was terminated by the owner, because of "I have no intention of paying a salary to someone who has ruined Italian football"
