It'll be interesting to see how teams will be affected by the four-month window between the Season 84 Finals and the start of Season 85. In contrast to two years of delay in UAAP basketball (which caused a lot of players to leave college basketball for better pastures), teams will have to cope with the opposite situation of preparing through a much smaller time period for the incoming season.

UP, Ateneo and La Salle will remain the powerhouses of the league, and while this call may be too early, the elims will in practice become a three-way contest for the remaining Final Four spot among FEU, Adamson and NU. UE unfortunately is cursed to be the cellar-dwellers for the foreseeable time, while UST will have to rebuild their system after the disastrous pandemic scrimmage.

I think it’s good for teams with new coaches as they get to now really implement their system. Adam son should be a team to watch, as Nash got the job only late last year. Hopefully DLSU too.

Waiting to see if there will be surprise one and dones.

With the pba d league happening in July, I expect most teams to use this as training ground for the next season.

Cortez was a COVID reserve for 84. Bongo is a FilAm that didnt make the 20 man lineup last season.

Ateneo seems to be quite a good portal into getting Filipino players into foreign leagues, first Thirdy, Dwight then now SJ, all very highly likely starter level talents for pba teams, I wonder how the pba cartels will react to this.

That will be the MVP cartel that will be complaining, not the PBA haha. If Ateneo losses again next season maybe infamous Ateneo alumni will curse SJ like they did to Dwight.
