So, did Tab Baldwin tank the game? Ateneo controlled Lastimosa. It was Manlapaz who went on a scoring binge. Ateneo now has a week to rest and prepare for either DLSU or Adamson. Hopefully, Luonga?s ankle sprain is not serious. His size will be needed against Nwankwo, Mike Phillips and Cortez.

Nah. They wanted to win. It was basically over when Duonga severely sprained his ankle. Duonga basically canceled out Kouame. When he was out Kouame was able to score inside and their defense could focus on the perimeter. Manlapaz made it interesting though. The guy is athletic and skilled. Manlapaz gave Adamson a chance to win it. But Ateneo persevered. Racela was still trying to rotate his players, knowing this was not yet a must win for them. He benched Lastimosa for a few seconds in the 4th. Which turned out well because Manlapaz was still able to score. Racela also sat Manlapaz for the last play.

One thing though, Lastimosa is still not yet used to Manlapaz. Late in the 4th Manlapaz was demanding the ball. Lastimosa passed it after a couple of seconds. Maybe by then Manlapaz lost the advantage and passed it back to Lastimosa who forced a 3.

Can someone mention why KQ was out? Ice was in jeans during the game. Manuel should really get tf out of the lineup

Probably because we shouldn't always be throwing this as a rationale.

Needless to say, if all UAAP teams were healthy and/or never got any games out, would the standings stay the same?

Are you sure about that? Mike was out for half the eliminations. Nelle missed a several games due to illness, injuries and suspensions. Mark missed a few games early on. Winston hasn't seen action for most of 2nd round. CJ missed a couple of games. Ice is now injured. Not only are those their best players but again, Pumaren's system requires a deep rotation. It requires fresh legs to defend and press for majority of the game. It's unreasonable to think your players can play that way and expect them to have enough gas to finish games.

Case and point, Mike was out during the UE game and Bright, who was hand picked by Manong for his conditioning & athleticism over other more offensively talented FSAs, got a lot of minutes and was literally gasping for air by the 3rd quarter and asked for a sub. He came back to the game under 4-5 minutes and couldn't make a play to save his life.
